What disturbing rumor have you heard? The worst thing I've heard is the near verticle(10+ hour) learning curve and a crappy manual, but then if you have never played 4x games then you REALLY dont need to be buying this game...Shinova wrote:There have been indications that they DIDN'T do Master of Orion 3 right. The Dark wrote:Nah...MoO3 comes out in two days (IIRC). If anything, TA is even more addictive than the C&C games. I played it constantly until my brother destroyed my CDsSea Skimmer wrote:Well, you could always get Total Annihilation, but then that doesn't really solve anything...
Now, if only they had fixed the naval pathfinding/AI flaw that game would have been perfect.

I too am waiting for Xenosaga; my mother, however, will likely not appreciate my purchasing a $50 dollar game (tomorrow) and dropping a class on the same day....The Dark wrote:I'm waiting for Xenosaga...only problem's going to be having the money. Wasn't there a RTS game that was designed around realistic WW2 weapons and situations? No tedious base-building, but "resupply" depending on your success rate, and continued missions from previous scenarios...
I love Red Alert but sometimes I want realistic situations...

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Of course it is, and its still full of mecha and vast one unit swarms. But you can find a lot of patches that fix path finding for the most part.phongn wrote:If anything, TA is even more addictive than the C&C games. Then theres Earth 2150, excellent game but the Moon Project and some aspects of the AI needed work. Artillery was just too powerful, it basically removed the need for ground forces in any numbers.

I say we stop such videogame adiction by making it mandatory for video games to have little or no replay value whatsoever, like Nightfire.
It's the simulations that get me addicted, especially for the first few days I own them. With a new, powerful computer, perhaps I should buy some of the games mentioned in this topic.

Yeah, but swarming can at least be countered (usually) in TA. Even the dreaded PeeWee Rush (now, if someone managed to get a Krogarth (sp?) rush, that'd be impressive).Sea Skimmer wrote:Of course it is, and its still full of mecha and vast one unit swarms. IIRC, even the naval pathfinding part wasn't fixed in the third-party AI scripts. A pity, but naval actions were far too cumbersome to work with.

That'd suck, greatly. Only the strongest porc bases could defend against that (probably with those rotating Big Bertha thingies constantly laying down fire).Captain_Cyran wrote:Do 10 Krogoth's count as a Krogoth rush?phongn wrote:Yeah, but swarming can at least be countered (usually) in TA. Get Homeworld, one of the most epic, well composed, musically beautiful, just damned dynamic games ever made, and then get HW2 when it comes out next year and you won't ever go out on the weekend ever again....

5 Vulcans, and 15 Annihilators might be able to hold that off...doubt it though.phongn wrote:That'd suck, greatly. First, I thought this thread was about something else. Second, if you are truly addicted, making a game with no replay value doesn't help. You can always start a new game, and try for some super tough goal, like go through all missions using only x number of rounds, or something.

But that gets boring really quick, especially when you don't get any rewards for it.Darth Yoshi wrote:First, I thought this thread was about something else.
