Babtech

Post by Brian Young »

Hi guys. It has been a long time. I forgot my password. :)
I have decided to discontinue my B5 website. The show ended a dozen years ago, and I don't think anyone cares anymore. We haven't gotten any fan mail, or even hate mail, in years.
Anyway, it will be up until the subscription is up, about Christmas time. If anyone wants to save any of those images or videos, you'd better go ahead.

If Babtech goes down, will you be putting your new stuff on a new website?

I have browsed Babtech before, but now that you mentioned it, I will just save those webpages in pdf form for my own future reference. Thanks for the heads up.

A pity. At least I have this opportunity to say you did a superb job with your work on Babtech. I'll probably save some stuff from the site for future reading.

Have you considered asking someone to mirror the site ? It would be a shame to see babtech go into oblivion. The science fiction related parts of the internet today is all flash and little substance. There is actual content worth reading in sites like yours and SDnet main site. These days all we science fiction afficiandos have left are wikis. Original articles and treatises on fictional worlds and world building seems to be a lost art.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I second the idea. Perhaps Mike can mirror the site here? Have you considered asking him?

Have a very nice day.

I appreciate the comments. But I don't think anyone is really interested in B5 anymore.
Feel free to save anything you'd like from the site. If you have a Mac, it is easy to save as a PDF.
To save any videos or pictures, just right click.
The realaudio files can't really be saved, but that is part of the reason I used them way back when.

Your site has been one of my favorites for years. Thank you very much for all of your hard work. :D

You could ask the Archive Team people about taking over the site's content. That's what they do.

I've been doing "Print to PDF" via Firefox for a bit. You might have noticed a minor spike in bandwidth due to me.

Anguirus, Coalition,

Thanks.
There are a lot of hidden files that I was preparing to use over the years, but never got around to.
In fact, the site never really measured up to what I had intended. I feel we represented the most logical and consistent analysis available, but I had intended to make it bigger and better. I started the website in December 1998. I started dating my wife in January. So it never really became what I had originally wanted.

WinHTTrack = download complete.

I have the entire site cached locally now, all the links, multimedia, everything.
I LOVE this program :D

Hope I didn't drain all the bandwidth or anything though by hitting the site all at once...

Is there a definite end date? Because I would like to save the site but I do not have time now.

Chris, neat program. My bandwidth is unlimited.

Yeah, I love my DVDs too. I have two complete sets. But I haven't gotten any fan mail in years.

I think I am going forward with a new project, and I want you guys to help. I've already hit Chris up about it, but he is angry with me.

I want to take the best debaters on each topic and follow the path of the TV show Deadliest Warrior. Pit one against the other, with me being the impartial judge. Like with the show, you have to convince me your weapon is superior. It would allow you use of my video equipment and video library. It allows an uninterrupted commentary. It will be fun.
