Uncommon Valor by Matrix Games

Post by TrailerParkJawa »

Is anyone playing the game Uncommon Valor? The game is richly detailed and interesting to play. Im still on the learning curve. Ive played the Battle for Coral Sea twice now.

The first time was a Japanese Marginal Victory. I lost the Lexington and the Yorktown was brutalized. In exchange I sank 14 minor Japanese ships but they were not a good exchange for the Lexington. At least I took solace in sinking several Japanese transports in a night surface action with no loss to me.

My second game both the Yorktown and Lexington were hit and had to retire, but I sank the Shoho in exchange, plus 4 transports full of IJN infantry.

Yes, its a WW2 game concerning combat in the South Pacific. It models individual ships, air squadrons, land units down to battalion size, and supplies.

No, its been out for a while. If you like operational level games give it a look. When I bought it was only available from their website, but now Ive seen it at Fry's too.

Here is the link for anyone interested.

Good game, but whatever you do, DON'T FUCK YOUR CD UP!
Matrix games' expects you to pay $50 dollars to buy it from them
AGAIN, rather than shipping you a replacement for $6

Thats good to know. Do you if you can burn a back up copy?

Ive noticed in the early game, the Japanese carrier pilots have more experience than the Allies which is accurate, it is just frustrating. :)

Can't. It's protected by Safedisc.

There are ways to get around Safedisc protection (Lite-on CDRWs fake it, some software intercepts Safedisc calls).
