I don't get the reference here to Kanye West. I mean I'm not really into his music so that's not surprising.

A few years ago, Kanye West called Bush a racist in response to the non-response to katrina.

The important part about that is, that Bush called it one of the most disgusting moments in his presidency and at that time he told his wife that it was the worst moment of his presidency.

I need an explanation, I don't get what this is trying to say AT ALL.

This is pre-WWII. You can sort of tell from the sketch style, from thee way it refers to Japan (Japan in the 1950s was still rebuilding from WWII), the spelling of Tokyo, lots of details. Nothing obvious... except that the upper right hand corner of the page reads "November 1931." --- Simon_Jester

He's saying that at a time when we celebrate "Peace on Earth" we need to remember that we only have that peace because of soldiers all around the world who fight and die (note the fallen soldiers) to keep it. I thought this was one of the most poignant cartoons I've seen in a long time.

That's why I had to post it. Remember the fallen soldiers who purchased our freedom.

There are so many things wrong with that cartoon, not the least that the soldiers of the western nation which has waged the most wars of aggression in the new millenium somehow provide peace, as well as the notion of said soldiers being painted like redcoats...

I thought it was trying to be ironic: we celebrate "peace" yet have soldiers/conflicts everywhere.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

Sure they're "Redcoats", but that's a fairly standard "Toy Soldier" motif over here in the US. You see it a lot also with Nutcracker decorations. I don't think they're supposed to represent the British crown.

"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

Rightfully so, given how many times we've discussed the topic and it always comes down to solving the problem (socioeconomic disparity and lack of healthcare) rather than the symptoms. But I guess anti-gun lobbyists are just not big fans of reason.

Guns don't magically turn people into psychopaths. All you're asking us to do is waste time restricting other people's freedom to do as they please without harming anyone else, whilst the money doing so could be better spent social programs to get the people who feel driven to these acts the help they need.

I like the subtility of it...
I had to look a second time to get the point, and then I noticed that they are taking four right turns. An I bet the direction of these turns is intentional.

Forcing smaller portions doesn't solve the problem. People who are massively overweight will just order more. I've told the story before so it doesn't need repeating about someone like that and just how much they are willing to eat/order.
