Not more powerful, simply more, by straight cloning if need be (It's not as if simple appearance and immune system genes can't be changed by themselves). As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. It's the perfect defense.

The Technocracy of Umeria tried that after a particularly problematic warboss came after us in the 28th century.

Too many orks live in shoal regions that are prohibitively difficult to sweep: the logistics of controlling planets in the shoals when the locals don't want you to is a pain in the ass like you would not believe. You get ramshackle ships harassing the fuck out of you, ground combatants filtering in wherever they can... such a pain.

I suppose I should let them attack me endlessly instead of beating the shit out of them and using their planets for money?

If you have a better plan that both kills the Orks and ups my GDP, I'm all ears.

Nah, but firing hyperspace missiles into it from interstellar distances from odd vectors sounds like a passable alternative.

You want me to build a Galaxy Gun? I think I need Admin permission for that, and a considerable upfront investment.

I don't think Steve allows hyperspace missiles. Hyperdrives cannot function inside a solar system's hyper limit, so your FTL missile will end up being sublight when it nears the planets, so it basically becomes a turd.

Also, how precise IS hyperspace travel? There is a reason why things drop out of hyperspace, enter real space, and then maneuver sublight to reach their destinations.

What the hell? Even the Imperium doesn't give a damn about the local orks. If we see them, we either shoot them or nuke them. We won't bother to go into a massive war over them. We have more insects to squash than orks to shoot.

The Imperium doesn't have a top-heavy fleet with few ships that can catch raiders. Not only that, but they only need to deal with occasional raids, The MEH needs to stand against constant raiding, and the possibility of a WAAAGGHH! if the Orks feel particularly suicidal.

Plus, if the Orks are killed, I can actually get a planet or two to increase my GDP without anyone wanting to kill me over it.

Lol other than the Collectors and you before you ratcheted the "ISD2" down to 800pts the Imperium of man has the most super-dreadnoughts. After all four 1200pt Battle Barges and four 1000pt Battleships plus numerous 600 point warships and an astonishing amount of 300pt warships is a really heavy fleet. He also ensured that he had enough of what he called cruisers and destroyers, of course his frigates are 70pt vessels which are light cruisers by most navies standards, but he has enough of them to take on the duties that are required of escorts.

Since you haven't been reading anybodies history, or the story thread let me enlighten you about the Koprulu Zone and the Imperiums lack of combat experience. The Imperium is currently at war with both the Bragulan Stare Empire and the Karlack Swarm. Both conflicts have lasted decades maybe even centuries usually at a status of raiding and skirmishing rather than straight up knock down brawls. However in the Koprulu Zone all the ships are bigger so most the destroyer and cruiser class vessels would be considered cruiser and battleships by other nations. Current active battles include Jenova where the Imperium is locked in a stalemated conflict with the Bragulans and the Karlacks decided to raid Nova Genoa a Colony class world that the Imperium had built a base and sensor out post on. This raid, incursion whatever you want to call it was conducted with a 1000pt World Eater Mothership and drew Flash Stalin and his battle group. The Koprulu Zone has more conflict and raiding then you can shake a stick at (that's why the Bragulans have so many beating sticks). Compared to them your laughable, the Orks haven't launched an attack on you since you've barely been around for any length of time. Second any attacks they launch are going to be mostly pirates with a single or handful of ships. You're only likely to face a significant number of Ork ships if you launch an all out attack on them. Build/buy some escorts and call it good or go ahead and attack the Orks it'd be fun to watch.

Also I noticed you changed the costs for several classes of ships in their data files but you didn't update your OrBat to reflect it. Could you please do that to avoid confusion also if you wouldn't mind totaling the cost of you fleet.

Yes, the story post is chronologically before the diplomatic communication was sent. I needed a good excuse to start showing more of the inner workings of the Refuge anyway.

Also, the only nation in or around the Koprulu Zone that has a shortage of heavy ships is the Refuge, and in-universe no one else is supposed to know about that. Heck, the only knowledge most people are going to have of the Refuge is where they are, what the smaller warships look like, and there are adorable blobs that drive little shiny carts and birdies.

The blobs drive the birdies? Hrm now I'm picturing a bird with a steering wheel sticking out the back of his/her/its head while an amoeba sits on it's back driving it. :P

...gargh. I was going to write "birdies and adorable blobs that drive little carts" but then thought, "but the birdies don't drive carts and I could be interpreted as saying that through lack of clarity." So I switched it without thinking that the same thing would happen.

With the addition of Dr. Rockzo, I'm now having a flashback to STGOD 2k8, which has in turn planted YET ANOTHER idea for a potential NPC faction. First Ace Combat and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, now Metalocalypse. Only problem now is where to put a nation of metalheads...

Nonsense Kartr. You don't drive the birds, you fly them.

Maya, we need to do Phoebe-o's stuff some time.

The MEH has an abundance of heavy warships and was thinking about creating a mercenary group for extra cash. Perhaps we would both benefit?

Uh, no. That would be admitting weakness. Besides, the Bragulans are much closer.

Also, the Bragulans are more theologically agreeable to the Mayabirdies.

I think there are more then 2 coup stories left. Have to wrap up the attack on the palace, get the psykers up there, and do the space combat portion, although I think I might be able to cut the space combat without cutting too much of the story. I'll play it by ear.

Also, the Elysians judge the MEH-ites to be unmanly.

Of course, by Elysian standards, everyone this side of the Incredible Hulk is unmanly... more on that later, folks!
