Wooohooo!!! I'm an honourary aunt!!

Post by Zaia »

My friend Joe (who's like a brother to me, hence the 'honourary' bit) and his wife just had their first-born today. Here are her stats:

Catherine Grace Fischer
Born Feb. 24th @ 3:11pm
9 lbs., 2.2 oz.
21 1/2 inches long
Blonde hair, blue eyes

And apparently she has long fingers which will be great when she grows up to be a string player (Joe's also a music teacher--can you tell? :D ).

So, I just wanted to pass on my happy news. Yay!!

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Congrats. Babies are cool. And best of all, you won't have to clean up shit or vomit, although I should point out that it doesn't really bother you as much as you would expect (not when it's your own child, anyway).

Yeah! Congratulations Zaia. From this "honorary" uncle to you. I hope this little one brings joy to you in the way "my little Emma" has. Just watch out if he gets a cold. Babies like to stick their wet, goey fingers up your nose when you least expect it.

Oh, I don't really mind. I used to take care of my littlest brother when he was a baby, and it wasn't all that bad. I've already volunteered to stay home from a trip to Atlanta to be with Maggie while Joe's gone so she has someone to pass Cassie to when she's tired of changing diapers and stuff. :D :D :D

LOL, yup, that's exactly what it is... Can't get anything by you, eh, hon?

Oh, don't I know it. Before I started teaching, I did day care and babysat. I know how it is! In a twisted kind of way, I look forward to it. :D

Zaia! Don't believe these people when they say "none of the work"! Who's Mom and Dad going to turn to when they want to go out for the first time after a couple months? Auntie Zaia, that's who. I'll never forget when I was placed in exactly that same position. I'd never changed a diaper before, and babies poop prodigiously! You'll get a taste of child care, believe me.
But, in all actuality, it's NOTHING like being a parent. Your friends are going to fall off the face of the planet for the next few months, you know.....

Congrats Zaia, it's been three years since my sister had her last one.

(She's managed to survive Childhood lukemia, and a number of immune system problems, including gestational diabetes. and everytime she got pregnant they said she wouldn't survive it...)

Damn, and your sister had more than one kid? She sounds like an incredible woman.
