Does anybody remeber when Megatron turned his hand into a buzz saw and Optimus turned his hand into a mace and they where fighting on a dam or something? Galvatron never did nothing like that. I think a alien threw up on him once.

Really? I thought it was my good looks :D
Besides, Megatron wasn't stir crazy. Which is why only the Nimoy Galvatron was good, the post-movie one was completely batty.
True, and his voice went up by about an octave. Their behaviour is so different that I almost consider them different characters. For me, Galvatron will always be the Nimoy-voiced bad-ass from the movie, not the deranged and random character of the post-movie TV show.

Ah, yes... the pilot episode

The only time both Optimus Prime and Megatron were able to simply materialise weapons in their hands.

In the battle of the Schizoid Decepticon, I'd have to go with Megatron. Although outgunned, Megatron is much saner and more tactically-minded than his counterpart —advantages which weigh heavily in any conflict. Nowhere near as much an egomaniac as Starscream and able to know when his function is endangered.

Hey now. Put that away.

*Flings Bob, the Small God, at the nearest peasant* Kill!

The Movie? As in the one where everyone escapes from Cybertron, fights through high speed starships, the Decepticons force a boarding, crash the Autobots ship into a volcano, 65 million years pass, and everyone eventually is reprogrammed to transform into Earth technology?

Or is it something else?

I vaguely... Very vaguely... remember something where they found all the old Autobots in some sort of graveyard, and an insane Optimus Prime attacked The Good Guys.

Aaarrrggghhhh!!! This heathen has The Movie confused with the TV pilot! Ahhhh, no! The pain!

But seriously, are you telling me you've actually never seen the feature movie? It was actually released to theatres. You can buy it on DVD at lots of places.

You seriously must have been aspleep for about 20 years if you never heard of Transformers the movie. Ever wonder why halfway through Transformers run on T.V all the Characters changed? They where all introduced in the movie. I still remember the commercials just before the movie came out. Seriously dude you are either 12 years old or the most sheltered person in history.

I have both TF: The Movie on DVD (Technically my brother's, but meh), and the TF Season 1 DVD set, both released by Rhino. :D

I intend to get the first Season 2 set when it comes out (apparently Season 2 is being released in two different sets because it was so fuggin' long).

I still have some of my old toys from the 80s (I know I have Kup around here SOMEWHERE) and my bro's been buying some of the figures off the net (got one of the Insecticons and Grimlock), damn this stuff brings back memories.

BTW, did anyone catch that "Transformers: Robots in Disguise" crap anime show FoxKids had? They butchered all of the characters (well, "new" universe anyway, but still) and turned it into what a friend of mine affectionally (or not so affectionally) calls "Pokéformers", because the show was made in the same fashion as other crap kiddie anime shows like Pokemon and Digimon.

Transformers: Armada looks like it's going to at least remain loyal to G1, even if it's still anime and a "new" universe. And the pilot movie is showing on my birthday, this Friday, how nice of Cartoon Network's schedulers. 8)

If you're talking the Movie Galvatron, yeah, he was worthy of Megatron's stature. But your dialogue suggests the whiny-voiced Show Galvatron, who sucked ass.

I love the idea of the Transformers, although as the post-movie Galvatron demonstrated, the execution sometimes left something to be desired.

More Than Meets The Eye

Post by Patrick Degan »

I have my own soft-spot for The Transformers. Yes, it was nothing but a cheesy half-hour toy commercial. But in the days when the only other viewing choices in the afternoons were Oprah, Judge Wapner, lame sitcom reruns or game shows, Transformers looked pretty damn good. After a while, the whole concept was worth a smile and there were some episodes I particularly liked. Pity they never went toward exploiting some of the humour which could have been mined out of the idea of naturally evolving multiton robots stranded on Earth, disguised as Earth vehicles, boomboxes, microscopes, juice mixers, etc... You'd think Bumblebee and Spike would have ended up getting tagged with a parking ticket or two at some point. And just how many of us, watching the movie, expected a scene in which Ultra Magnus would take off his optic protectors only to reveal another pair right beneath the first one?

Anyway, my favourite series was the first one, before the movie. The others all left a little something to be desired in my view. And I liked The Transformers better than G.I. Joe —although that show did have Lady J., who had nice boobs for a cartoon. 8)

Oh, it did, it did. I like post-movie because it has a more sci-fi atmosphere, they involve space travel a helluva lot more and they have the new behind-the-scenes villians, the Quintessons.

But you know the main villian sucks when they have an entire episode devoted to Cyclonus taking Galvatron to a dedicated psychiatric care world....
Actually, reminds me of a long-lost fanfic crossover idea of mine...

It's an entertaining thought, but no. After The Rebirth, the Nebulon Hive leaders try an internal coup against Galvatron but fail because of natural Decepticon racism against "flesh creatures". But then Shockwave rebels himself and a good portion of the Decepticons side with him. To turn the tide, Galvatron and his loyal butt-buddy Cyclonus put together a powerful new Decepticon which they intend to program to be loyal to Galvie. Just that before they bring the program on line, something else possesses the body, destroys Galvatron and Cyclonus, and unites the Decepticons under his banner, reminding them of the glory days under Megatron, and promising them a new galaxy to conquer.

Is it Starscream? Nope. The name of this spirit is.... Palpatine. Or Palpatron if you want to go with the classic Decepticon leader naming scheme.

But this is a topic for another forum. :)
