The important part about that is, that Bush called it one of the most disgusting moments in his presidency and at that time he told his wife that it was the worst moment of his presidency.

He's saying that at a time when we celebrate "Peace on Earth" we need to remember that we only have that peace because of soldiers all around the world who fight and die (note the fallen soldiers) to keep it. There are so many things wrong with that cartoon, not the least that the soldiers of the western nation which has waged the most wars of aggression in the new millenium somehow provide peace, as well as the notion of said soldiers being painted like redcoats...

Re: Political Cartoons Thread
I thought it was trying to be ironic: we celebrate "peace" yet have soldiers/conflicts everywhere.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

Sure they're "Redcoats", but that's a fairly standard "Toy Soldier" motif over here in the US. You see it a lot also with Nutcracker decorations. I don't think they're supposed to represent the British crown.Thanas wrote:There are so many things wrong with that cartoon, not the least that the soldiers of the western nation which has waged the most wars of aggression in the new millenium somehow provide peace, as well as the notion of said soldiers being painted like redcoats...

Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

Rightfully so, given how many times we've discussed the topic and it always comes down to solving the problem (socioeconomic disparity and lack of healthcare) rather than the symptoms. But I guess anti-gun lobbyists are just not big fans of reason.SirNitram wrote:The last one may get me flamed.

I had to look a second time to get the point, and then I noticed that they are taking four right turns. An I bet the direction of these turns is intentional.

A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay
