I only just started exploring sector one. As for being off-putting, it doesn't really bother me and feels pretty natural to transition into, though having to hold down the trigger to look around is taking some getting used to. (ps the writing is pretty terrible, but the gameplay is solid which is the important thing.)Chardok wrote:General Zod wrote:Incidentally, it turns out Metroid Other M is surprisingly decent so far. I'm not too far through it but it actually feels like a genuine Metroid game despite the terrible voice acting and unskippable cutscenes.
do you find the third-to-first person transition for missile shotzing to be off-putting or do you get used to it? I found it to be so unsettling (along with Samus being portrayed as an emotional crybaby) I couldn't keep playing it. Have you gotten to Ridley yet?

If you don't see why voicing an opinion based on 'I played it a few seconds at a time and have a serious brain injury' is stupid, you need to stop posturing and start thinking. You have almost no idea what ME2 is even like, so your opinion is largely worthless, and far less meaningful than the opinions of people who have played/finished/own it.
In short, you're ignorant and stupid.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
You're not reading what I'm saying. I'm not bashing the game, at all. The opinion I got of it, I got from simply watching not playing. Stark, would you recommend ME to someone that doesn't enjoy shooters or sci-fi? Yes or no. Would you say that it is a must play not matter what your genre preference is?Stark wrote:If you don't see why voicing an opinion based on 'I played it a few seconds at a time and have a serious brain injury' is stupid, you need to stop posturing and start thinking. No, you're not listening. Nobody thinks you're 'bashing' the game, and whether your comments are positive or negative are irrelevant. They're just baseless, because you've barely even played it.
It's like me playing SMG for twenty seconds and saying 'haha levels simplistic and barely 3D'. In other words - totally wrong.
And don't try to be cute; I'd recommend ME2 to anyone who can handle a controller and likes simplistic, hamfisted drama. It might be shit, but it had broad appeal and isn't demanding on the player.

I wasn't trying to be cute, that was a legit question and your answer I'm assuming is yes. I have no problem with that.Stark wrote:No, you're not listening. Shit, you think? Was it the part where I said 'I'd recommend ME2 to anyone' that gave it away?
You actually remind me of Chards telling me how Metro has no exploration or rewards or flexibility because he played it for five minutes.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wait, ME2 is shit now? The main story is terrible and some of the characters have laughable design, but overall it's fantastic. If Bioware can figure out that "That feature needs improvement" doesn't mean "TOTALLY REMOVE IT SO NOBODY CAN CRITICIZE IT", ME3 should be one of the best games of the generation.
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

I wouldn't say that it's shit but it's vastly overhyped. Especially the writing.adam_grif wrote:Wait, ME2 is shit now? I think its pretty clear that Bioware's reaction to 'this needs improvement' is 'we removed it, now buy it on DLC'.adam_grif wrote:Wait, ME2 is shit now? LOL at 'best game of generation'. Terrible story, terrible characters, awful mechanics ... but its fantastic!
Griffo likes reviews so much he actually sounds like one. 'Game has glaring flaws, 10/10'.

ZOD - Why in as;dlj;ovinm name did you touch Ninety-Nine Nights 2? What's WRONG with you?
Also - Did any of you duedz try the new Doritos games? Harm's way is pretty cool, but boring single player. I'd actually like to see it fleshed out into a full-on "real" game. and Crash course is one of the best examples of Avatar animation I've yet seen.
AGREE WITH ME.

It was in my Blockbuster queue and I wanted to see if they actually managed to improve on the first game at all. Turns out they haven't improved significantly enough to maintain my interest.Chardok wrote:ZOD - Why in as;dlj;ovinm name did you touch Ninety-Nine Nights 2? What's WRONG with you?

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I heard N3 was even worse than the other one and didn't even try it. The demo was awful.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Needs clarification; the main collector plotline is terrible, but the individual character pieces are the best parts of the game. It's like a short-story anthology where the metaplot sucks but each individual story is good.Terrible story,
No, it has one or two terrible characters, a handful of "OK" ones and some totally fantastic ones.terrible characters,
Are you high?awful mechanics

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
The biggest problem with the writing was the almost complete lack of moral ambiguity in ME. Almost everyone was neatly broken up into "good guy" or "bad guy".
"It's you Americans. There's something about nipples you hate. If this were Germany, we'd be romping around naked on the stage here."
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
You think the questlines are good? They're worse than WoW-level. Says who? Bioware has written maybe three decent characters in ten years. No, it has one or two terrible characters, a handful of "OK" ones and some totally fantastic ones.
Are you fuck-ugly? Please continue telling me how ME2 is so great, though, it's funny. FANTASTIC CHARACTERS AMAZING MECHANICSAre you high?

Stark, you're clearly putting words in his mouth to get a rise out of him. Stop man, its embarrassing.

Fuck off dickless. If he's going to claim the writing is good because the mainquest is terrible but the sidequests are good, the fact that the sidequests are shit is relevant. Learn to read.
Zod, that's not ME2. That's pretty much every Bioware game ever; they changed the emphasis from simplistic characters to forced dilemnas in Dragon Age, but its still the same shit.
What's sad is Thanas is right; Baldur's Gate did way better a decade ago.

Happily they recycle them in every game ever.Stark wrote: Says who? Bioware has written maybe three decent characters in ten years.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I really have to eat my hat on Baldur's Gate, really. I can't stand the AD&D system (or the ridiculous lists of nigh-identical character options) but it does have good writing. Maybe Bioware has just beaten my story expectations into the ground. Thanas was RIIIIIIIIIGHT!

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wait, what's wrong with ME2's mechanics? It plays almost identically to Gears of War.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I mean the stats end. They can hide it, but it's still a spreadsheet. The way the player interacts with that (ie, powers, weapons, etc) is less terrible than ME1, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
