Babtech's last stand
Guys,
The curtain will fall on Babtech in a couple weeks. But I did throw together one last page. If no one agrees with anything else I've said, at least read this.

Wait, there's people saying that the bomb destroyed no Shadow vessels? I thought the debate on that scene was about how many pieces the battlecrabs had been blown into...

They have always debated it. In fact, at that website across the net, they have a whole page dedicated to proving they all survived.

Re: Babtech's last stand
I still can't believe people think the ship wasn't destroyed. Given JMS was (is?) quite accessible about B5, I'm surprised no one who ever denied such an obvious thing didn't try and ask him. Too afraid to hear the answer?
Btw Brian, even though you're wrapping up Babtech, did you watch The Lost Tales? I didn't. But there was some very neat CGI. Check it out if you haven't seen em:-

Re: Babtech's last stand
Yes I saw the Lost Tales. Was a bit disappointed.
As far as mirroring the site somewhere, I just want it to disappear really. You guys are welcome to save whatever you like and use it for reference. But I am weary from the journey.
I was gonna just dump the turbolaser stuff too. Mike hosted it, because he wanted to. I didn't ask him. He asked me. I look on both as a bit of an embarrassment really. Just plain old vanilla html without much design flare. I'm not much of an artist.

It also meant people didn't have to worry about newer code messing up their browser. Your site was stable, and it lasted.Brian Young wrote:I was gonna just dump the turbolaser stuff too. I wouldn't worry about that sort of thing. The best websites I feel are simple and austere without looking cheap.I was gonna just dump the turbolaser stuff too. Mike hosted it, because he wanted to. As a sometime web designer, I view the craft like this: there's only one single thing that can't be justified or redeemed later on, and that's poor content. Graphics and layout are presentation, a cosmetic framework that facilitates easier reading of the message.Brian Young wrote:Yes I saw the Lost Tales. Was a bit disappointed.

A page can be beautiful, but if it has nothing to say, then it might as well be a flash movie. Conversely, a page with great content will be able to rely on said content. Such a page will continue to draw an audience; we've seen just that happening with Turbolaser Commentaries for years.
So while I'll be sorry to see you quit, your page was and is a great resource, and I thought you should know.

Re: Babtech's last stand
Hi Brian
If you have the B5 script books, what do they say as regards the old Vorlon planet killer debates?
How many planet killers were at Centauri Prime in "Into the Fire". Was that supposed to be an asteroid field that the ship was flying through at the start of Falling Toward Apotheosis? etc.
I'm just curious as to what JMS intended in his original scripts.
Thanks

Re: Babtech's last stand
Okay, the script books say the VPK was flying through "debris." That isn't conclusive.
JMS said he wanted the SPK to be "just as powerful" in his written commentary.
Into the Fire script page 25, scene 80: "UPSHOT - SKY
We SEE the Vorlon fleet, and in the center of them, a second massive planetkiller."

Cool, thanks for that Brian.
