My SW vs. ST story

Okay, I am currently developing my own ST vs SW story and I would like some help and opinions. First, this story is set thirty years after the Battle of Endor and the events of NJO never happened. The Federation has just discovered a way to enter hyperspace and tries to use it and warp at the same time. This causes a rip in the time-space continuim and the ship is sucked into orbit of Yavin 4. The Feds and the NR use the tech to open a permanent door between the galaxies and the Federation allies with the New Republic. Then the Empire open relations with the Romulans and the crushed Dominion. Palleon is killed and the Empire starts to prepare to go to war with the new alliances. I will, unfortunly, be scaling back on the strenght of the SW univers in terms of weapons and sublight speeds for the stories sake, but they will still have most of their original advantages. An suggestions?
