Why?

Post by haas mark »

Okay, there is a thread about whether we should go to war... and I think to myself, "Why should we go to war?" So I ask a question - in any situation, why is war the only possibility?

Depends on what are the alternatives are.

EDIT: In the Middle Eastern situation with Saddam, whatarethe alternatives? Stand back and watch, and if that were the case, can you imagine the consequences? Go into negotiations (I honestly have no idea how that would work)? Those are really the only two I can think of...

Well, we can aloways start with the current war. Or the previous Gulf War. Or the war in Chechnya. Take your pick.

Its not Verilon, take a good long look at all those threads about war, Inspections have failed in the past, We don't have the Inspectors to run an inch by inch search of the Entire Country(What you end up having to do) and the fact you have to keep those Inspectors there INDEFINATLY is also a serious aurgment aginst Inspectors, As Saddam Demsotrated, he's quite willing to rebuild the Instant Inspectors walk out the doors, meanwhile perfecting his technology to the point where he can devolpe a Misse that can Reach New York and therfor making him like South Korea, un-attackable
Invade? I Nuke America

The point with Dictators as opposed to Communist Regimens or other types of Goverments, There is no insurance plan for Dictators, once you loose your power, your likley going to die, The things you must do to keep you power likley me you could give a flying fuck about the "common man"

Its not the World VS Iraq, Its the World VS Saddam as without him the Goverment will crumble(As Dicators MUST to to maintain power, They are forced to construct their goverments in such a way as without them the whole thing falls apart)

Assination is impossible thanks to some careful planing on his part, Leaving only War or Revolet as the two Alternatives, You can't ignore him or you might as well shoot yourself in the head now and save him some effort

We left the Rebels out to dry and he quadripled his secret police after that, We have no Rebels to Rebel aginst him leaving only Ignoring him(Sucidual) or War which is why so many Polls boil down to that Verilon

But if we have other choices, what are they?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Because its the only course that leads to progression in a situation. Why else is war the only option?

Leave them be and you end up with negative progression (we get attacked and/or the other party continues making arms and becoming a bigger and bigger threat)

Continue with the inspections ends up in no progression (they jump loops and keep the UN and others off balance while they move arms or build more arms, also Bean is right, can't inspect every part of the country)

Talks ends up in no to negative progression (they continue building arms and/or play political games that lead nowhere... lets face it, everyone likes to think their right)

War isn't the best choice, of course, but it seems to be the one that promises the most progression for the cause.

Bean,
