Massive Screen Tearing in games.

Post by Talk738kno »

Can anyone please help me figure out what the problem is here? Here's video me playing Mass Effect 2, and this problem is pretty much happening across the board whenever I try to play any of the newer games.

Do you have other programs operating in the background?

Do you have the transparent window headings set in the display options for windows 7?

My brother was having serious graphical glitching issues with that enabled though he doesnt do much gaming.

Make sure all the fans are working properly, it could also be a heat related issue.

Has anyone got anything handy to watch that frame by frame, I suspect that it's actually redrawing background windows and that one of the flashes is actually of a window, but it's too fast for me to be sure and I haven't access to any tools here atm.

How do you disable the transparent window headings?

I think he's talking about the Aero themes. If you go to another one it should work. I'd try Windows 7 Basic; when I start up older games, that's what Win7 switches me to while they're running because the program doesn't support Aero or whatever.

I put up Windows 7 Basic, and I still have the same problem, albeit slightly reduced in its severity.

That looks like it could be a driver problem. Have you checked the drivers on your graphics card for updates lately?
