Re: Vote for the Next Enterprise!
The weapons array at the least should be clearly visible.
All I can see on your design is the two main saucer phaser arrays, where as the E-E with its Nemesis upgrades, had an absurd number of weapons visible on the design.
A labled picture pointing to the main features might be a useful addition...

If those yellow things are the only thrusters, they're not enough, I think. Remember, thrusters aren't just for turning, they're for small-distance maneuvering, in all directions. Even if they're really powerful and multivectored, their positions would create unnecessary strain on the hull, not to mention that you have most of them in the hind portion of the ship, while most of its mass is in front and center.

There are 12 Thrusters. 2 on each nacelle's rear tip, 4 on the engineering section, and 4 on the saucer. I tried to bump up their yellow quite a bit in anticipation of image compression, but I guess they were still lost

lol, I actually missed the alpha strike bit at the end when I watched it the first time. Have a habit of moving on when I see credits. Caught it, cool.

Yeah I was wondering how many people would be like "oh, text, it must be over." I suppose it's something of a reward for those who stick around afterward

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

My complaint with that was the choice of sound effect for the torpedoes. That's got to be one of my least-favorite sound effects ever.

Fuzzy that is outstanding, you really put about a thousand times the work and effort in, that would make a nice addition to any professional portfolio, you should be proud of yourself.

Re: Vote for the Next Enterprise!
I kind of like that the shuttle bay has that open area. The hole in the wall style of the TNG bays doesn't leave any room for abroting landings. What if a rookie comes in too fast? he plows into the ceiling, walls or back. At least this way they can have, for example damaged shuttles come in sideways and then two them.Havok wrote: I would say the only thing I dislike, is the design of the shuttle bay. Too TOS and not enough TNG for when this ship is supposed to exist.
Hope you get it though.
The uniforms definitely look old school though, is that lady wearing a dress? Ridiculous, only men where dresses in the 24th century, unless they are Deanna Troi that one time.

Voted again Fuzzy. Strangely, your ship is highest rated but second in votes, whilst the "highest votes" ship is fourth hghest rated. Ah well. I'll keep voting every day until the contest is done.

Re: Vote for the Next Enterprise!
The rate of votes coming in for Fuzzy is much higher than the current highest vote ship. When I first voted, that ship had around 300 votes while Fuzzy had about 80 so I expect by tomorrow or so for Fuzzy to be in first place.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Gotta say, I really dig 1286. I wish it had more views to see it. It has a very workmanlike, industrial feel to it.
I can imagine Starfleet making a subconscious move to that style based on the Defiant class and it's success and the aftermath of the Dominion war.

And now Fuzzy's design is in the lead with most votes too. I wonder how much this might impact the canon if they actually select it.

You've got my vote, Fuzz, and that of those I like it to who go 'ooh!' at it. Although yeah, the muscle-car battleship Enterprise is pretty hot. I'll be honest, if it had a prayer in hell of winning, I'd probably vote for it myself. Still, good luck!

Re: Vote for the Next Enterprise!
You're in the lead, Fuzzy, with both vote quantity and vote rating. I am quite impressed.
I'll admit, it's not the prettiest ship I've seen, but it has a strange sort of charm to it. Should it carry the name Enterprise?
I don't think so. It looks more like an Invictus or Chixculub or Tunguska or Vredefort to me.
Still, better it gets to be a Big E than nothing at all.
Might be that it's going to be a new Explorer class in the game, which would be nice. Vice Admirals are kind of annoyed at only having retrofits of much older ships.

Re: Vote for the Next Enterprise!
I do like Fuzzy's design, but honestly I have a bit of a preference for the Chris Maddow design, #869- sleeker, cleaner-lined, suggests an evolution towards the far-futuristic Enterprise-J sort of design. With the tapered nacelles and the angled struts she looks like she's going at about Warp 8 standing still. I like that.
She's not so well designed as a battleship, but I can't help but admire the aesthetics.

That design just looks like a soveriegnised JJPrize. Right down to the excessive lense flare.
