Crew of the Pacific Princess on the Enterprise(RAR)
After reading some Love Boat and TNG comments, I decided to take the next logical step. Q places the entire crew of the Pacific Princess from the Love Boat onto the Enterprise D while the crew of E-D appear on the Pacific Princess. So, what happens?
Note: the civilian members of the Enterprise are still on board and the tourists are still on board the Princess.

For no adequatly explained reason several of the Enterprise crew will develop romantic entanglements with other crew or the enemy of the week which the P.P. crew will be able to help sort out.

Hmm swap out Guinan for Isaac? That be more or less the only job that could slot-in without any worries other than figuring out how to work the replicator
The PP crew likely not have a lot of trouble as long as ask the right questions of the main computer; as long as Starfleet doesnt need the Enterprise to go fight Romulans or something, things may run even smoother.
As for the usual heroes? The usual comments about a decadent backward culture. Picard gets in a snit with Q over their predicament. Worf gets into a fight and beaten up by the unruly guest of the week. Hilarity ensues.
If you really want to be cruel, set it during the Charlie's Angels crossover ep, then watch Worf get his ass kicked by the Angels

"Of course, what would really happen is that in Game 7, with the Red Sox winning 20-0 in the 9th inning, with two outs and two strikes on the last Cubs batter, a previously unseen meteor would strike the earth, instantly and forever wiping out all life on the planet, and forever denying the Red Sox a World Series victory..."

Captain Picard would probably appreciate the opportunity to experience some famous 20th century vintages, actually.

LaForge fails to manage head or tails of the engine, without a computer to tell him what things are, and Data is left in a broom cupboard with a dead battery when he fails to find a power outlet his charger would fit in.
In other news, Wesley Crusher as helmsman is in serious deep trouble and his mum has a nervous breakdown as there's no thingamabob she can wave over her patients to tell her what's wrong.

Um....this raises a question. How is Data powered? He clearly doesn't need what is being suggested (somewhere to recharge) as we've never seen any suggestion of that. He doesn't sleep (he is the duty officer on the night shift) So, what the heck keeps him going?Jawawithagun wrote:LaForge fails to manage head or tails of the engine, without a computer to tell him what things are, and Data is left in a broom cupboard with a dead battery when he fails to find a power outlet his charger would fit in.

According to Star Trek Insurrection, he is always constantly recharging himself. Somehow his creator discovered perpetual motion in addition to creating synthetic life.

Didn't SNL already do this back in the early 90s?
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.
Re: Crew of the Pacific Princess on the Enterprise(RAR)
The Love Boat crew discover the holodeck and even more hilarity ensues... they either recreate their own boat inside the holodeck and live in there while the Enterprise is on auto-pilot (possibly after calling up Starfleet to figure out what happened) or several romantic subplots occur while the Love Boat crew fall in love with holographic love interests.
The Enterprise crew go nuts trying to figure out if this is just another holodeck malfuntion or not, Picard alternates between loving the clasical atmosphere and loathing the decadent capitalist society. Eventually somebody on the crew builds a time-machine/teleporter/plot device out of random crap and pieces of Data (potentilly using his perpetual motion thingy to power it).
Depending on how serious the crossover is, the plot device the Enterprise crew builds will either solve all their problems or it will fly out of the ship on its own like that FTL drive the Red Dwarf crew got at the end of the Legion episode.

Fry: No! They did it! They blew it up! And then the apes blew up their society too. How could this happen? And then the birds took over and ruined their society. And then the cows. And then... I don't know, is that a slug, maybe? Noooo!

Not necessarily, data could sponge off of artificial gravity or heat, or even eat something that gets broken down into chemical energy. One of the early STNG books mentions that he can ingest organic food, metamorphosis I think it was.FaxModem1 wrote:According to Star Trek Insurrection, he is always constantly recharging himself. now to be fair
I would bet the Enterprise crew would find the experience amusing at first, with all manner of humerous fish out of water situations, before ultimately becoming disgusted at the thought that they avhe to exchange money for services and goods, and no one they meet gives a flying fuck about space exploration. They could justify an attempt at time travel as seeking to avoid interfering with history and either succeed or kill themselves trying something that would never work in the Love boat's universe.Data ALSO becomes human in this book after literally completing a sidequest. He beamed down to a planet and was mistaken for a golem. he helped some girl complete her journey, and after receiving damage he was turned human by the "Gods" of that world if i remember correctly. It was a pretty loosely written book.

I doubt the love boat crew would do any better in the 24th century. They'd love the ship of course, but get eaten alive by whatever hostile Thing Of The Week is happening to it, unless by SHEER luck tehy arive in orbit over Edo and figure out how to beam down.

I thought there was another episode where he says he ingests some kind of slurry that keeps his biofunctions lubricated or something like that. Given that he and his brother were designed to emulate human behavior, I'd guess that he derives energy from things he ingests.Skylon wrote:Um....this raises a question. How is Data powered?
