It seems that the Americans are the first since the days of the cavemen who fail to appreciate the massive advantages in taking the leader of the enemy alive...
Just which way is the US going?

Curious. In what way is being '100% Red Blooded American' a benefit given that 'all men are created equal?'DG_Cal_Wright wrote:That does not reflect MY will. Last time I checked, I was 100% Red Blooded American. Something many of you asshats are not.
Psst. Your hypocracy is showing.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.
It does not even has to be a fair trial. It´s already enough if they get any trial at all. If the person is found not guilty in a obvious show trial in their own country the ICC has to proof that the trial was blatantly faked if it wants to hold a own one. These rather extreme hurdles were build in after extreme pressure from the usa (still under clinton) against almost all other nations.Sea Skimmer wrote:As defined by who?weemadando wrote:And lets not forget that the Hague only has jurisdiction if its not possible for the person to have a fair trial (either way) in their own country.
Also saddam can´t be put on trial in front of the ICC for the invasions since it applies only to crimes committed after 30. june 2002.

Or is that reflected by the continued delay, by the lack of decisive action? If we had ignored the U.N. and gone in directly, consumer confidence would now be booming, and this issue already dealt with; gas prices would also be much lower. Americans were in overwhelming support of the invasion, of any action necessary, but the continued delay, the worthless waiting, has caused doubt to stir as it always does in the hearts of a westerner, when we lack decisiveness. It is our nature to wage war decisively, and the lack of decisive action is the worst thing possibly in a military situation.weemadando wrote:
Which is reflected in the massive drop in consumer confidence.
Yes. The sovereignty of the Nation-State is absolute.I want opinions from Americans on these kind of issues. Would you Dalton, support the invasion of the FUCKING Hague to "liberate" an American soldier who went My Lai on an Iraqi village? And lets not forget that the Hague only has jurisdiction if its not possible for the person to have a fair trial (either way) in their own country.
During wartime, yes. During peacetime, no. The rules of war are different than those of peace.Would you support the assassination of Saddam even though it goes against US, and indeed, most nations policy?

He won't let himself be taken alive, anyway. It isn't in his nature to do so, and it would be pointless to even try, at least in my opinion. If we do try, we'll fail.weemadando wrote:

Well, if we kill him during the course of the invasion, c'est la vie, c'est la guerre.weemadando wrote: Too true, though the solution sounds nice it has far more complications that most would be willing/able to admit.
This is without going into the fact that an assassination constitutes an undeniable act of terrorism which would mean the the Bush hypocrisy - sorry, government, would just be planting both feet firmly in mouth, inserting head up arse and kicking. HARD.
