Is Bush a closet facist?
During one of his speeches several weeks ago (I believe i t was the state of the Union Address), Bush denounced the evils of Dictatorship, Communism, and HITLERISM. I thought it was interesting that he chose to denouce "Hitlerism" instead of the system of facism. What Im thinking is that he really dosen't mind fascism, just that particular regime. His economic plans sure seem to indicate this, IMO.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Hitler was far more extreme them your average fascist. And today fascist is used to describe basically any non communist authoritarian state, several of which happen to be important US allies while not being what would have been called fascist when the term was created.

Maybe, but Bush isn't exactly known for his ability to speak properly, even given a script.Captain tycho wrote:He has a speechwriter. He probably put it in there.Trytostaydead wrote:"Hitlerism," could just be one of many George W. Bush's slip of the tongue when he couldn't find the right word.

Its hard to be facist in four years, eight at the max.

How the hell do his economic plans compare to fascism? He's doing the opposite of what the National Socialists did to their economies, in fact, which was strictly control their industrials - Those controls just worked to maximize their profits instead of minimize them like in a modern European-Socialist regime.BlkbrryTheGreat wrote:During one of his speeches several weeks ago (I believe i t was the state of the Union Address), Bush denounced the evils of Dictatorship, Communism, and HITLERISM. For your information, he was actually being technically correct, proving once again Bush has far more intelligence than most people give him. Probably he's more intelligent than you are. The Nazi Party was, technically, not a fascist party. The Fascist Party is the name of Mussolini's political party. Hitler's political party was the NSDAP, or the National Socialist Party of Germany.
There were sufficient technical differences that you some call them different things. I do, in fact, agree with that evaluation. Nazism/Hitlerism was followed with a religious intensity and the ruling ideology became sufficiently elaborate that it almost qualified as its own religion. It pursued a totally alien and non-rational goal and conceptualization of the world; it became more than a political movement. It was also responsible for one of the worst atrocities in world history.
Fascism showed some elements of this but was rather weak by comparison, even though it was the originator, and Phalangism and the other fascist regimes further descend from Mussolini, not Hitler.
What Hitler created was unique, a national psychosis of frightening proportions.
But, uhm, seriously... Why exactly do you think that Bush has fascist leanings? They had heavy state orientations to begin with, and secondly, both Fascist Italy and Fascist Spain were monarchies - Franco declared himself Regent and eventually made good his word to find a King, and Mussolini was just premier for the King of Italy. The system really wouldn't function here, the symbolism doesn't exist in our past.
The hysteria I'm seeing over what's going on right now is exceptionally amusing.

These are characteristics that aren't necessarily part of the core components of fascism. They had heavy state orientations to begin with, and secondly, both Fascist Italy and Fascist Spain were monarchies - Franco declared himself Regent and eventually made good his word to find a King, and Mussolini was just premier for the King of Italy. Oh, the fact that he coined the term "Homeland defense" dosen't exactly help matters considering that Nazi Germany was known as the "Fatherland" and Communist Russia was known as the "Motherland"

Nice that you defined the term facism for us but left out any examples of what Shubby does that is considered facist by you.Enlightenment wrote:There is nothing closeted about Shrubby's fascist ideology.

Welcome to a capitalist country, enjoy your stay. To be honest, sometimes both parties go to far in this reguard and to say that Bush is a cororatist administration and the other side is not is disingenuous. He has a coporatist administration
So the fact that congress voted and passed a bill giving him the authority to wage war if he needed to doesn't qualify as "Declaring War". I guess we still need the Congress to dress up in top hats and monocules.he has ignored and is going to ignore the constitution (War with Iraq)
So far the courts uphold its interpitation. If Padillia and his ilk wish to challenge the laws and/or some on his behalf (plenty of lawyers would love to just for the publisity) let them and we will settle it.and his administration has passed Laws that violated the rights of the citizens and non-citizen's of the US.
Edited once for screw ups.

I actually remember a "discussion" in high school between some of our lesser students over which one of Gore or Bush was a bigger "fag".
Yes, that's right: which one was a bigger "fag."
I couldn't help but tell them that the discussion was inherently retarded.
