Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread IV
CN, since it's about to become very relevant very soon, could you please explain in more detail the composition of your 4 very densely packed solar systems? I mean, I'm just having a little trouble visualizing the orbital dynamics of 5 inhabitable(?) worlds in a single system...
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

Yes. But watch your ability to detect other people's stuff when it's under stealth, OK?Force Lord wrote:Are stealth probes allowed?

They're perfectly allowed, the probe i dropped in the inner system to try and spy on the Lost's communications array is somewhat stealthy after all. What does need to be cleared up is what you're doing with this probe. You're following one of the two other stealthed ship's in the system but where is this stealth probe going exactly?Force Lord wrote:Are stealth probes allowed?

You know, with all this stealth bullshit going on, I should just barge in with a Monolith, open up with every possible active sensor and mess up everyone's delicate scans

You should do it Pezook, I mean the Collectors aren't known for their subtlety and the appearance of yet another race has to have sparked their curiosity and just imagine the Chammaran reaction to the Collectors butting into their stealth mission after what happened last time!

Yeah, to say nothing of the Datton and the Bragulan spies. This mission would suddenly get a lot more interesting for all involved.
I'll probably put up a response later today. Pezook, let me know if you intend to do it, so I can include a HOLYSHITOMGWTFISTHAT?! moment as the Monolith approaches.
Have a very nice day.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread IV
So if a monolith can be detected half or a quarter of a sector away, why hasn't it been detected on the way there, and why hasn't an international task force blown one apart to study it?
Or just put up so much ECM that they're blind anyway.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:The Imperium always favoured active scanning to find stealth ships anyhow...PeZook wrote:You know, with all this stealth bullshit going on, I should just barge in with a Monolith, open up with every possible active sensor and mess up everyone's delicate scans

A 10 thousand point monolith needs a serious fleet to stop it. Basically no nation around can concentrate enough forces fast enough to catch it. Especially since it can run far faster in shoals than they can.

It was coming from the Commune (you would know of their alliance, had you read the game thread). Look at the map and tell me why no one had detected it.Chaotic Neutral wrote:So if a monolith can be detected half or a quarter of a sector away, why hasn't it been detected on the way there, and why hasn't an international task force blown one apart to study it?

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread IV
In shoals, yes, outside shoals, not so much. However, in practice, picking a fight with a Monolith just to "study it" as CN so foolishly proposes is a good way to get a lot of hard knocks for your navy, there's no guarantee of getting useful technology to study, and you're liable to piss off the robot zombies.Agent Sorchus wrote:A 10 thousand point monolith needs a serious fleet to stop it. Plus there's the risk of, you know, losing. In which case a bunch of your ships get blown up, and you get nothing. Except more angry robot zombies coming after you.

Can I ask that no one one initiate any hostilities upon the MEH until I finish up my plot against them? I won't be attacking but I think it will give additional RP hooks for those assembling against CN to utilize.
