When Bill O'Reilly think's you're a right wing nut, go home

Post by mingo »

There no text with this to speak of, it's just a clip of Glen Beck being interviewed by O'Reilly.

Beck's finally backed into a corner saying that, "groups" want "Fundamental change" in American, and he DOESN'T? Hey went do the guys in the nice white suits come for this freak?

One right-wing nut thinks another right-wing is too much of a right-wing nut. I can't say I'm impressed.

"Problem is, while the Germans have had many mea culpas and quite painfully dealt with their history, the South is still hellbent on painting themselves as the real victims. It gives them a special place in the history of assholes" - Covenant

"Over three million died fighting for the emperor, but when the war was over he pretended it was not his responsibility. What kind of man does that?'' - Saburo Sakai

You're not supposed to be impressed per se. It's more a reduction to absurdity function in politics. When two people renowned for sharing a similar bent towards politics meet and one says that the other is way too far to their side, we point, laugh, mumble snide obscenity and carry on laughing at the notion that the name-caller is any closer to the center. Traditions, you know.

Well, if you remember that just a few short years ago O'Reilly was on the far right end of the "acceptable" discourse on politics in the US, then it is very telling when he is the voice of reason and moderating voice in comparison to other hosts. It just shows how extreme the shift in the discourse has been since Obama took office.

So just asking, assuming your right (and I think you are) that it's got worse since President Obama's election, do you think it's his fault?

Nah, its normal when there is a Democratic president. Look what happened during the Clinton years:
Constant investigations of the ogvernment and the president, a complete shut-down of government, the rise of anti-government militias, several severe cases of domestic terrorism, the rise of sovereign citizen movements, etc. When Republicans lose, they always "know" that they weren't right-wing enough, so people who are more extreme get thrust to the forefront.

Of course, this time you not only have a Democratic president, but a black Democratic president who had a foreign father and even lived in a foreign country for some years. Add to that the economic downturn and the increase in unemployment - especially long-term unemployment, increasing inequality, etc and its no wonder that a lot of people are willing to listen to those right-wing conspiracy theories and the people who blare them out.

You would have seen much of the same kind of thing happening if Hillary Clinton had won - I mean she was the wife of Clinton, a *gasp* woman, etc. So I wouldn't blame Obama, or any other Democrat or some Democratic agenda - its the typical hysterical overreaction when the Republicans lose an election.

Of course, to a certain - but limited - extent there is a similar reaction on the left. The difference there is, that the Democratic party has a very large and solid corporatist wing, which results in the reaction being a right-ward shift - not a left-ward shift. This also means that left-wing conspiracy theories and the people who espouse them do not get thrust into the forefront. In addition, there are no large left-wing extremist (communist) groups in the US, so you don't have the extreme overreaction and tendency to violence that is there on the right. In effect, on the left you have a split between people who want to go further left, people who want to go to the right, and people who just want to win a damn election.

Beck is more than a right wing nut. HE'S JUST PLAIN NUTS!!!

During the clip, Beck talks about his theory of Communists and Socialists working with Radical Islamists to setup a new Caliphate spanning All of north Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Europe. :wtf:
