No, but I would much rather have the joke caricature of Anglians be stiff-necked arrogant nobs who sip tea and wear monocles, not debauched orgy-indulging lesbians. :P

Anyway, speaking of the external empire idea, is anyone open to having an Anglian protectorate or external colony in their environs? Shroom's hoping I get permission to be near Klavostan and the Argenti so I can have "the Balklands". (Original name: the "Fucklands"). :P

K-Zone states need not apply. I'm close enough to your crazy bastards as it is.
How about a Anglian colony/protectorate near my space? Gives me a reason to use either the Order of the Black Star or the CENINTERN. Heck, maybe the Sisters of the Silver Moon stumble on a OBS/CENINTERN plot! :D
More likely SIS would. :P

Soon, the daemonoids will be infected with Space Lesbianism and have purple daemonette orgies!

Hm? Currently, daemonoids have no concept of "sex." Even the imps are hermaphrodites. Currently, all the stuff that's being done is being done for the benefit of you puny alienoids and your strange mating habits.

Have a very nice day.

It is a shame :(, especially since the metaplot is taking its first steps toward the reunion of old friends and the realization that, through error, their actions led to the creation of a terrible legacy that haunts the galaxy and may yet threaten it with untold havoc..... *ominous music, DUN DUN DUN, etc.* 8)

Um... if any of the players be kind enough to condense what has happened in the last whatever years after the Commune made a deal with the Collectors to station one of their Monoliths in exchange for the presence of a Commune fleet in Collector space, just in a few words (a page or two), I could be more reactive. Lets see some events for you.

1. Bragulan Expository Extravaganza of Friendship. (BEEEF) Fun little capitalist shin-dig trades expo/arms trading event with a side line of minor politicking. Known for introducing the galaxy to Emissary Shroom a daemonette who is the public face of the Lost, Imperator Prime who is a giant byzonist robot built by chamarrans for the bragulan market (and who may also now see action on Canaan), King Kong who is The King and Fulcrum who is a giant bird and emissary from the Refuge to the Bragulans.

2. The Lost's emergence and the plight of Sector c-6. The Lost started transmitting a questionaire to the galaxy at large and a few powers sent ships to the origin point of the signal in sector C-6. The Hierarchy was one of them, due to a series of events involving an over ambitious shipmistress, a Lost sensor gunboat committing atomic seppuku and Mysterious Defence Systems the stealth ship sent lost one of its bombers and the crew of said bomber. Currently the Monolith stationed in Commune space (I assume it's that one) has ambled over to initiate first contact with the Lost and the story is ongoing.

3. The Multiversal Empire of Happyness emerged onto the scene with all the political awareness of a loud fart during a public address, succeeding in gaining the Hierarchy's ire by talking openly and boldly about their expansionistic desires while being right next door and gaining the ire of 90% of the known galaxy by asking for them to send psycher test subjects to them for experimentation(The Pendleton precedent has been invoked). The MEH's player Chaotic Neutral has seemingly run off in the face of this and our demands he do something of substance beyond say stupid things in the diplomatic thread and stupider things in the ooc thread.
Currently no military actions are actually being undertaken against the MEH except for covert recon, which everyone is doing and I do mean everyone.

4. The Shit hit the fan regarding pirate suppression in the badlands area of shoals as diabolical criminal masterminds have hatched a diabolical and masterful plot to ensnare and assault the Prussian space fleet, the story is ongoing.

I have missed a fair few events i suspect. but this is just what i can think of off the top of my head.

Also, we're not even out of 3400 yet. 3401 likely won't begin until Simon Jester wraps up the Zebes-Boskonian plot and I finish Shroom Fighter (with input from Siege and maybe Shroom and Shady).

To answer the inevitable questions about Thanas' new post, yes, I knew of it, yes, I've informed the other mods (though only one had actually seen it before Thanas posted), and yes, I gave it approval. Thanas has engineered a faction that lives up to his statement of being mostly isolationist and the mods will make sure there's no funny business.

In other news, I got tired of waiting for CN, so I finally ate his ambassadors.

I'm simply loving the write-up on the Sassanid Empire, but honestly... A 20,000 point warship?! I'm sorry but I really do have to object. 10,000 point Monoliths as my neighbours I can deal with, but a ship twice as powerful way exceeds my tolerance for absurdly powerful warships, and I like absurdly powerful warships.

Well, it has the problem of being essentially a somewhat more mobile system monitor AND a relic craft to boot.

Yes. I hereby state that it will never travel outside the borders of the Sassanid Empire simply for reasons that repairing serious damage will be near impossible. So unless one of you somehow decides to allow the Xenos to scout your empire for years for possible routes, I really cannot see how it will travel beyond the Sassanid borders.

EDIT: Inside the Sassanid empire it can use its ludicrous speed to evade attacks. But outside it is restricted to sublight speed. I suspect there is a way to get around this by having it transported via other warships, but this is something the Xenos will not consent to, simply by virtue that it would leave them nearly unprotected and of course that it would draw attention to themselves.

I mean, the Sassanids towing a "pleasure yacht" into a combat zone which then unleashes missile spam is not a good way to make the universe not take note of yourself. Oh, and what happens when the towing warship is destroyed?

Actually, I don't think the SDNW3 universe advanced any better, rather Thanas is simply presuming the Andromeda universe is more advanced.

Yes. Sorry if that wasn't clear by my posts.

Oh and if that was not absolutely clear by my posts:
The Sassanids are extremely xenophobic and isolationist. They do not want any territory outside their borders, they have no interest in joining any huge interstellar alliances, their military is not geared up for action outside their borders. Their ground forces are restricted to less than 2 million troops in total. Elite troops, yes, but about the number required for the occupation of one planet or so. The most forces they will commit to outside fighting is a small expeditionary force to accompany Bragulan fleets or something. THe rest is needed to keep the "neighboring powers" (read: Sassanid nobles) in check.

Seconded. While I understand the strategic logic, 20000 points on a single platform is... too overwhelming. Scaled down to Monolith points (~10000) I could live with, this is the Koprulu Zone, but.

I'm sorry, I'm going to have problems with this, even given assurances that the ship will never leave Sassanid space.

If you look at the stats the combat value of the ship is actually only 12000.

4000 is the fighter force of the Xenos. And I docked myself 4000 for the other advantages which do not immediately feature into combat value, like Slipstream drive , the AI etc.

Honestly, I think that with the drawbacks Thanas has imposed on his ship a lot of concerns for balance are addressed. Especially since he's pretty much removed his ability to do any kind of interventions or expansions in the game to facilitate his own ideas of how to go with stories. I mean, between the movement limitations on Andromache and the smallness of the Sassanid fleet, Thanas has pretty much removed any capacity he'd have for offensive military action. If you're worried he'll try to slip out of that, that's where the mods come in.

Now, drugs that make people into ESPers? That's something we need to discuss, Thanas. Maybe if they're drugs that only enhance inherent ESPer abilities to some degree....
