I dont have a problem with it being removed. I like the idea of requiring 20 years of citizenship.

I see no reason to keep it. But I would like to hear arguements against removal before I make a decision.

I think it should be modified...once you've lived in the US for 15 or 20 years, you should at least have a chance at being President.

No real reason to keep it, though like it has been said, one should have to be a citizen and live here for a certain time.

Honestly, I don't care. I doubt anyone born outside the States could get elected anyway, except maybe Ahnuld.

I have never heard anyone give a convincing reason why someone who has lived in the country for a long time and become a citizen should be barred from the presidency.

I couldn't resist, Mr Arnold would make for better CNN:

President Arnold, what is you opinion on the recent UN remarks towards your Iraqi resolution?

-I'll be back.

How did you convince Mexico to back your plans?

-I just use my muscles as a conversation piece, like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd Street.

How do you feel American troops will do in any upcoming war?

-If it bleeds we can kill it.

Any words for Mr Hussein?

I think it's one of those old laws that serves no purpose (did it even serve one when it was created?). Now, I think congress would come up the reason that a non-natural born citizen should not become president is because they could be working for terrorists!

Wasn't it's original purpose to prevent foreign nobles from becoming President?

There's a provision about that elsewhere in the Constitution (not to mention that silly TONA that seems to have found new life among domestic terrorist dorks). The purpose of the provision, as well as having the side-benefit of keeping foreign nobles out of the Presidency, was that a foreigner would not have the same feelings and desires for the country that a natural-born citizen would. Honestly, do we want someone like Ayatollah Khamenyi or a Chinese official coming over here to run in an election just so they can say "I'm making the USA part of my mother country! You're following our rules now!" I don't know about everyone else, but becoming an Islamic or Communist state leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Naturalized citizens are not barred from all federal offices. They can be representatives in Congress, just not President.

I know several people in the military with top-secret clearences that are not yet citizens. Theoretically they could become a four star general, and perhaps hold far more actually power than a senator, congressman etc in the event of an emergency.

This is the same argument that school kids use against letting girls try out for the football team. Just because it would be theoretically possible for Ayatollah Khomeni to become president doesn't mean it would happen. They still have to win an election.
It allows qualified, popular candidates the possibility for office, but still keeps the bad guys from attaining it.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
