Even a few minutes is pushing it. I'd be surprised if any part of EoE was aired.

Of course it will never be aired. It would be interesting to see what a chopped up version of EoE would look like.

All you would have would be credits. If we're lucky, they might just have a blank screen with the sound effects (Some of them cut out of course).

They should be showing Macross, not Robotech.

Why did they hold it back?

I love that episode, the Go-Go Cactus Man theme is great.

Who would have thought that Nadesico would have gotten more cuts than Neon Genesis Evangelion? Very odd, indeed.

At least they're only airing the first two episodes, iirc. I wouldn't trust CN with with the last half of the series, let alone the ending. Presenting it as your basic 'giant robots fighting aliens' show should be easy enough for them, at least.

But damn, you'd think they would have handled Nadesico better...

And that's why I buy Macross Animego DVDs. Sixity-six bucks for three four-episode remastered DVDs.

I'd just like to add that I now understand why so many people hate Spike Spencer. He did an okay job with his role in Nadesico, though.
Don't hate; appreciate!

That reminds me. I didn't like the dubbed voice for Misato in Eva. Something about it just bothers me.

A bit too high, maybe? I also thought Ritsuko sounded kind of flat.

There is so much that is wrong with the casting for the Evangelion dub. The script isn't too bad, though there's a few odd quirkcs here and there (they could stop pronouncing 'Eva' like it's a little German girl's name, for starters.  ), but the casting is all wrong. Shinji should sound younger, and soft instead of 'whiny' like Spencer. Gendo and Fuyutsuki's VAs might have actually worked better if their roles were switched, and Asuka sounds older than Misato. A lot of the supporting cast is in general too nasally, too whiny, or sound the wrong age.

I'd give it a passing mark, which is a hell of a lot more than can be said of Love Hina's 'dubbing'. I never before that thought the sound of 30-somethings straight reading the lines of teenagers could leap out of my speakers and gag me with an aural spoon.

There's a guy over at SB arguing that, due to the shittyness of what CN showed, the original must also be shite, because they just can't be that different.

What a moron. Even in the dubs that I consider are better than the original I still admit some things can be lost in the translation through english dialogue. I like hearing the original cast and picking out some of their words and sentence structures (and hell, even some stuff is lost in the subtitles. The "I'm home"/"welcome back" exchange between Misato and Shinji loses some meaing in english because it's not a routine greeting & farewell exchange like it is in Japanese. And many more things like that or more so). If he doesn't like reading subtitles, tough shit.

I almost don't want to read the related Eva threads on SB. It's hard enough some days to get across the correct info over here, but the way I've seen SB work, it'd be like fighting in Korea to deal with wave after wave of people with their own $.02 misinterpretation of 2 freaking episodes, and feeling the need to post it over and over. :(

Heh! You should see the dubbed Bruce Lee movies I have. Truly atrocious.
