I'm beating myself for not picking up Mindwipe. Stores around here had dozens of the things, and I missed the many ample opportunities. I had the Headmaster G1 version when I was a kid, too, I should have been all over that.

I found out only after he was gone that there's a fan transformation for Mindwipte that actually turns him into a nearly perfect bat.

There's a collector's consignment store in my area that has a decent number of Transformers at any given time; maybe I'll get lucky.

Re: Lugnut: distribution on his wave SUCKS. Theoretically he should be available in stores soon. If you really want him though, buy him online. There is also an Autobot redeco of Mindwipe in that wave...IMO that doesn't really work! :lol Also a retool of 2009's Inferno as Grapple (quite an extensive one).

He's much better reviewed than the Animated version, with an innovative transformation that lets his vehicle mode be nice and long while his robot mode is bulky (if not super tall). He has been retroactively inserted into the events of the G1 movie in a recent comic, lol. (And yes, the movie was incredibly mercenary, but in a strangely awesome way.)

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal.

The ground vehicles are IMO some of the coolest SW LEGO around. 2008's AT-TE was a masterpiece and one of the most fun things to build ever. It's so detailed. But yeah, I'm crazy for SW LEGO. I own pretty much every single set released from 2007 to now (I haven't bought some of the January 2011 wave yet), with a smattering of earlier (some used, some MISB) sets I was able to pick up on eBay. That includes the LEGO Death Star. My enthusiasm might be starting to die down, I think I'm about to get much more selective. LEGO releases new versions of stuff they've done before, and whilst this is justified in relation to some of the really early releases, I see little reason to get, for example, a new LEGO Naboo fighter which is being released later this year when the 2007 version is good enough.

The big release this year is the August 2011 wave - a new full-scale Millennium Falcon (not the UCS Falcon, which is the biggest LEGO ever with 5,000 pieces, I'm talking about a general release one). It's going to be awesome.

That's a big cannon.
It is indeed...though it looks at least marginally less silly than Megatron's both-arms-combine cannon in the first movie!

God I hated that. He's fucking Megatron, he needs to have a fucking Fusion Cannon attached to his arm. And he even only used it what, once?

At least Shockwave doesn't have teeth.

Actually, Rahvin, if you REALLY want that Mindwipe - maybe I could see about sending mine your way? Send me a PM.

That's why his 'triple-changer' format in RotF was better. However, in the original movie, he did have a gun seperate from his both-arms-combine thing - he shoots at Jazz with it and sends him flying.

I will say that Shockwave looks pretty bitchin' there.

Except that RotF Megs had those teency weency little stick arms half the time. Take a look at the scene on top of the building with Starscream right after Prime dies - Megatrons' proportions are so horribly wrong, he looks just like what he was supposed to be in-universe - rebuilt from scraps. He doesn't look like a threatening villain at all, the arms just ruin it for me. The Leader toy was somehow even worse, having not just the tiny little arm, but a massive tank cannon that only moved at the shoulder. A Leader with such poor articulation is just inexcusable - I have Scouts that are more satisfying. Voyager RotF Megatron was supposedly better on that front, at least marginally...I didn't pick that one up because I just didn't like the overall design for TF2 Megatron in any case.

That's probably a large part of why I'm so excited about Shockwave. Not only has he been a favorite of mine since G1, his toy actually makes him look like a credible villain and his transformation is great. He's well-articulated, the gun looks right (which is apparently unusual for the TF3 Voyagers), vehicle and robot mode look good...The only better Shockwaves I've seen frankly have been custom jobs.

He looks like a human in really ugly power armour. More of the same, messy metallic crap. He's going to be called Shockwave, he's going to be a Decepticon leader and he's got a single eye but I'm guessing that's where the comparison to G1 Shockwave will end. Nothing about this guy evokes Shockwave to me- you could have said he was the Mass Effect 2 villian and I'd have believed you.

I think the main issue for me with the new TF films is that there is a fine line between updating a property and trying to remake it in your own image.

New pictures (check out Optimus' gun!) from Empire magazine, together with summary from the article:-

http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/20 ... timus.html
Does and Don'ts for TF3:
1. No sand
2. No "dorky" humor ("we wanted to make the movie much more serious, more adult)
3. When robots die, they're really going to die and we're gonna show that
4. We're not bringing people back
5. Give the robots more 'weight' in the story ("They were missed in movie two. We've given them a strong back-story and pathos")
- Sentinel Prime is "A big brother and mentor to Optimus Prime"
- The Ferrari is a 'Con who (Michael) bay is dubbing as 'Dreadbox'
- New companions for Starscream, Shockwave and the rest
- "The scale on one of them is jawdropping" - "It will be 'what the Hell was that thing?"
- Apollo 11 'incident' show in the teaser is government secret
- No army for this, Chicago is left up to the 'Bots but some heroes sneak in through the back-door so to speak
- The human gliders are used because they slip under the 'Con radar - as do humans - so they'll be the people who can hammer it to the 'Cons and create an opening for the 'Bots

That gun looks like crap- a block scrap with three barrels. THIS is what I really hate about Bay's treatment of the franchise. So you've decided to put a gun in Optimus' hands. That's great- it's in line with classic versions and looks much better than triple changing hands. But why choose that look? Why some triple barrle lump of shit when Prime has an established weapon? I can understand changes made where they need to be- Soundwave isn't a tape deck and Ratchet isn't white anymore etc. I don't understand the changes that seem made for no reason (such as using Skids, the Autobot philosopher as... well you know what he got turned into).

??? Optimus hands never turned into guns in the previous movies. He just held several different guns.

Conceded his hands don't turn into guns. Specifically I was thinking of other TFs when writing that but I was under the assumption they were integrated in the second film. Consider it more evidence of the overly detailed mess of the TFs. Upon further examination Prime's gun(s) depending on which movie you look at are either part of him or simply backpack mounted. In the first movie his gun appears to be made of parts of him with engine looking parts and even a blue plate piece. In the second they seem more like extra items he carries about. But it still leaves me wondering why this new gun- given the three he wielded in RotF and the one from the first film this will be his 5th weapon- none of which bear even a resemblance to his original. Again it seems like he doesn't have his traditional gun (and in RotF neither gun appears to be energy based, or even consistently automatic/semi-auto).

I just don't see why it would kill them to stick to things a even a little. Let's put in twins, but not use Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. Ok use Sunstreaker, the arrogant, cocky twin, but call him Sideswipe. And don't use the colour for either but create another generic silver car whose only scene is fighting another gereic metallic mess. I get that you can't have another yellow sports car since he went and made Bumblebee a yellow sports car but why not make Sideswipe red, since Ironhide is now black.
