Dear Friends,
Greens are the only living thing on our planet that can transform sunshine into food that all creatures can consume. Chlorophyll is a miraculous substance, in essence liquefied sunshine.
Therefore, greens are one of the most healing foods on Earth.
Green smoothies are the fastest, easiest, most delicious and nutritious way to consume greens.
When we conduct our Joy for Life retreats, our participants live predominantly on green smoothies. Every morning at our retreats we ask everyone to share if they feel different from living on green smoothies. During the first couple of days most people go through the detox. Beginning with the third day our guests start feeling amazing health improvements. By days six and seven, every participant reports increased energy, clear skin, better sleep, happy mood, and such profound health improvements as reversal of type 2 diabetes, elimination of chronic migraines, fibromyalgia symptoms, weight loss, and many others. Here is only a few of the testimonials from our retreats:
Green Smoothies Relieve Fibromyalgia Symptoms in 4 Days [links were broken when i received it]
Elimination of MSG Stops Chronic Migraines
Beating Diabetes With Green Smoothies
Green Smoothies Help Reverse Lupus Symptoms
Since we can have a limited number of people at our retreats, I have been dreaming of an opportunity to bring the benefits of green smoothies to a larger number of people. That is why I was very happy when my good friend Tera Warner offered me to help her organize a Green Smoothie Detox on-line!
During this event I will be sending you my articles, along with some notes from my retreats and some of my favorite recipes. Tera has a lot of experience in organizing on-line programs about which I have heard highly positive feedback. You will receive daily support from both of us on many different levels.
The 21-Day Green Smoothie Detox starts on March 21st, 2011.

Sounds like something from an episode of Batman the Animated series. You know the one where Poison Ivy had a week long scam set up to use a magic chemical to turn criminals against plants into people trees.

To be fair, the very fact that when people are on detox, they drink more water, eat a relatively healthier diet and get more sleep can account for most of the effects they claim. Even if we ignore the bias and correlation issue.

"Liquefied sunshine"...wait, doesn't excessive sun exposure lead to skin cancer?

Sunshine doesn't heal you. Nor does food, this it not a videogame after all. So WHY exactly should "greens" heal you?someone_else wrote:The fact there are people that can believe this is a correct reasoning makes me feel so bad.Greens are the only living thing on our planet that can transform sunshine into food that all creatures can consume. Not to mention that chlorophyl is the substance turning sunshine into usable energy in the form of sugar, and not itself "liquified sunlight". It would be FAR more logical to say that sugar is liquified sunlight - i guess the stereotypical US-american diet has it's benefits after all

Yeah, I know this is distilled crap . But I've been exposed to "hippie thinking" enough to realize this is acceptable thinking for quite a few people.
You know sun, the "thing giving life to us all", so it must have magical healing properties.
It is not the thing we orbit, the thing whose ancient symbol was (among countless others) the swastika , and probably the only self-sustaining fusion reactor of the solar system for a while.

I have to say, Molyneux' and Serafina's posts totally made my day
Sadly, it's depressing how large a portion of the general population would actually read that crap and think it actually had a semblance of reason to it.

I have to disagree with this. I find the fastest and easiest way to consume greens is to go face down in my backyard lettuce and chard patches.Green smoothies are the fastest, easiest, most delicious and nutritious way to consume greens.
Frankly, "green smoothie" sounds like a woo-woo laxative to me. Or the result of a laxative.
Don't people eat actual food anymore?

Yes, some people really do make a lot of money on these scams. Whether they believe it themselves or not is another question. Some do, and some are outright con artists.

Re: Cholorphyll - the hippie wonder drug.
Hi, everybody. This is my first post, I'm honored to be here.
I totally agree, this things are an outrageous scam. Here in Mexico, there are a lot of miracle products that are being sold throughout all media, mainly television. It was so out of hand that COFEPRIS (that is like America's FDA) started to ban a lot of products from advertising (a little to late, but meh, better late than never). I think this is because we always want the easiest solution; here the most successful products are the ones that promise to lose weight without effort (and we are very fat). This, together with our longstanding tradition of religion and/or witchcraft (we REALLY believe miracles work), make us believe this will also work, because fuck, a "doctor" on tv says so! It also has "science"!.
(Just for the record, at Instituto Politécnico Nacional, one of the biggest public educational institutions, we have the mayor of "surgeon with homeopathy specialty" imagine how much we rely on miracle products.)

Dude, the very OP mentions detox green smoothie camps (jesus christ, blended vegatables...this has to taste great! Why on Earth couldn't they just eat nice fresh tasty salads in beyond me...)Cykeisme wrote: I don't get it, do the fuckers who come up with this shit make money off it? I assure you you have to pay good money to participate in one of those.
I think I did it all, actually: Atkins diet, alkaline diet, glueten-free diet, blood type diet...my mom is fascinated with alternative medicine of all sorts and regularly subjects the entire famiy to it. According to her (at the current time) bread is the cause of all ills and people with blood type O should only eat red meat (because "we are hunters" etc.)PainRack wrote:Really? Have you read up on the akaline diet yet?
Also, grains cause cancer. I guess it's kind of the opposite to the "greens heal everything" thing
Another observation, though: recently, every single dietary supplement is sold as a "natural product". Obviously it's become a fashionable, so we may see a surge of brand new scams going for that angle.
