Want to buy a used Arc-Reactor?

Post by Crossroads Inc. »

Evidently there was a huge auction of Ironman Movie props.
Adam Frucci — Sure, you've been able to buy cheap plastic arc reactors for a while, but this is the real-deal Mark I "Hero" reactor from the actual movie. And it's just one of a boatload of props and costumes up for auction.

It's all part of the official Iron Man prop and costume auction being put on my Propworx. You'll be able to snag stuff like suits worn by Tony Stark, the Sonic Taser used by Obadiah Stone to paralyze Stark (complete with earplugs) or even the Stark Industries wet bar Tony brought with him into the desert.

The auction itself is taking place during C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, next month from the 16-18 of April. If you're in Chi-town, head on over to McCormick Place on those dates to check the goods out in person and make bids. If you're far away, you can bid online at the auction site. [Propwerx]
Click on the link for a full list of items, got to say having this on my mantle would be pretty sweet.

Hell, I can build a replica of that with a few of the unused stuff in the toolbox, and any other stuff not there can be bought at a hardware store.

Yes. Because that's the point of buying a prop.

Oh, please, spare my slack-jawed stupidity oh wise one.

I understand perfectly why someone would want to buy an actual prop. I'm just saying you actually could build one for cheap if you really wanted something awesome on the mantle because, let's face it, most of use here don't have $10,800 just lying around.

No but if you do there's something to be said for owning a piece of cinematic history.

Like I said, I understand perfectly why it'd be cool to have one. But I was specifically replying to the part of the OP where Crossroads mentioned that it'd look good on the mantle.

Are you saying you can build it with a box of scraps?

Except he probably meant it'd be cool because of what it is, not what it looks like, thus making your point moot.

I am torn between pride and disappointment that someone got there before I did. :)

God, that meme didn't even cross my mind. And now I wonder how I missed it.

Right, because thinking that he was talking about the cool appearance is a completely unreasonable conclusion given that the OP also showed a picture of it specifically. But, hey, if you gotta find some thing to be all smug about you go right on ahead and derail the thread. I mean it's not like I was making a one-off comment related to the appearance of a cool-looking prop most of us will never be able to afford, right? I was obviously making some heinously unsupported point that has to be corrected.

You obviously feel your position is weak enough to have to be sarcastic about responding, so maybe you do feel you made some heinously unsupported point. Either that, or you're just such an asshole that you can't handle someone showing a contending viewpoint to something that sprung out of your obviously perfect mind.

You know, I have to admit, if I have the spare $$$, I'd probably by one of the Iron Man Suits.

I wonder if it would fit me.....
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

If I had the money I would have bought the whole trophy room from one of the old Marvel restaurants when they went belly up.

Any of the new Iron Man suits would be cool too. :D
