I saw the ads for this movie and all I can say is:

:lol: :lol: :lol:

It's a spoof of fantasy/sword & sorcery movies, by the same people who did Pineapple Express (IMO, the funniest movie I've seen in ten years), including Danny McBride and James Franco. McBride played the chubby dork of a dope dealer in Pineapple Express named Red, who shaves his underarms on the grounds that it makes him aerodynamic when he fights.

McBride and Franco play princes in a fairy tale kingdom. When the bride of one of the brothers Zooey Deschanel is kidnapped by an evil wizard (Joseph Fiennes), the two brothers and their allies set out on a quest to save her.

Damsel in Distress: "Why would anyone want to be with you?

Evil Wizard: "I'm not sure, really. Oh yeah, perhaps because I'm rich, I live in a castle and I can do magic."

Evil Wizard: "I'm here to steal a virgin who looks just like... [panning across the plain Janes before spotting the bride]... HER!"

Prince: "And how do you plan on doing that?"

Evil Wizard: "Magic, motherfucker!"

What's really funny is the awful Renaissance Faire phony accents. Like Keanu Reeves or Kevin Costner. The fact that it's made by the guys who made process serving [4:08] laugh out loud funny seals the deal for me.

After watching the above trailiers, I noticed they had a trailer for movie called 'Cowboys and Aliens'. From the title it sounds like a comedy - but the first person I see is Daniel Craig, then later see Harrison Ford. It's actually a serious movie - confirmed when see who are producers and who is director.

Harrison Ford should do westerns until he retires. It's the only sort of action/adventure film that a man his age can do without know-nothings bitching and whining. It worked for Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Joel McCrea, Randolph Scott and as an actor, Clint Eastwood.

I'm still not decided whether this will awesomely bad. It seems like that's what they're shooting for, but it's a tricky target.

I'm definitely going to have to see it.

There's more Westerns about than they used to be and they're popular/entertaining (like the remakes of 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit, etc).

I'm not sure about the humour, but the effects, sets, and props look quite impressive.

I felt like a lot of the delivery in the trailer was pretty flat. When I read "Magic motherfucker" in the OP for instance, I imagined that as being far funnier than how the guy actually delivered it.

Wait and see I guess.

I'm probably going to see an advance screening tomorrow evening. I'll post my impressions afterward.

I mean, how often am I to enter a game of riddles with the author, where they challenge me with some strange and confusing and distracting device, and I'm supposed to unravel it and go "I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE" and take great personal satisfaction and pride in our mutual cleverness?

While I didn't care for Pinapple Express, especially coming from those guys, I might give this a viewing if the word of mouth is good. I'll skip on the red band trailer though, they have a habit of ruining some of the best jokes. Its becoming increasingly harder to advertise R rated comedies these days.
