So the Bragulans and Imperium are using the Nova Atlantean naval review as a cover for a prisoner exchange, including a population of Tau who fled in the direction of Bragule and have been rounded up for this purpose?

Wow.... that is astounding dickery. I am in awe. :D

It's funny how the Bragulans are always talking big about how nonhuman species should band together against the human menace and so forth... Only to then promptly sell out the remnants of a nonhuman species to the most xenophobic humans around. Your doublethinks in action!

Yeah. :P

Well, the Tau were too into their Greater Good shtick to convert to Byzonism. And I think there was some backstory fluff by Fin about Tau trying to subvert (anti-Byzon) Bragulans during the Great Crusade, thus earning them the ire of not only Byzantium but also Bragule. Turns out things didn't turn out to be great or good for them, who knew. :D

(Yeah, balancing IC Bragulanisms with OOC dickeries with Fin requires a lot of doublethinking. We should hate each other!)

Well, the Tau tried to convert you Brags to Greater Good, which failed utterly. Byzon simply hated them for the subversion, that's all. :D

Ah yeah, here we go. The Greater Good of Bragulanity In which Tau attempted to subvert Bragulans, but came to regret it.

I think the Tau are the galaxy's butt monkeys. They just can't get a break. :P

Brags are cool with non-human species as long as they don't try to do anything funny. Being non-human won't give you a free pass if you do try to do something funny though, like the Apexai, Scron and now the Tau.

I think Fin also made wrote that Tau subversion of Bragulans as foreshadowing for our posts in the naval review.

I'm just gonna go with the idea that everyone hates the Tau. I mean, shit, if they get both the Byzantines and the Bragulans to hate them, then they've got to be really obnoxious. Maybe even more so than the Apexai, since the Apexai just stand there and sneer and laugh atonally about how inferior you are but don't actually subvert your societies and convert your people to The Greater Good. In a way, you can say that the Tau have a face only a mother can love... or a Nova-Atlantean (or a Miratian?).

Hopefully Bragule's contribution to other inhumanitarian causes will more than make up for this slight diplomatic hiccup. ;)

I had in mind that they were squatters, like Palestinians, who had to be evicted when we had to build more settlements for FREEDOM!

The slave procreation was Fin's idea, but that's also cool.

I don't know if I'll be able to stay active next week, on account of the conference, but I thought I'd dash off one more chapter of Battle of Zebes just to establish that I'm still alive and working on it. Everything out to the end-game is plotted, substantial snippets of it are written; it's just a matter of patching together bits and filling in the gaps now.

Kierger doing a tour of various nations could be interesting. I imagine it'll determine whether many leaders end up seeing him as a legitimate Dictator or an empty suit.

Okay, so an update on the MEH stomp:

Essentially Darkevilme and myself got to talking in the chat, and we decided that an IC unofficial arrangement was arranged regarding our two coalitions. In short, we take the "top half" and they take the "bottom half" of the MEH (Sectors A25/26 and B25/26 A/B25 and A/B26 respectively).

Sometime in late Janurary 3401 or maybe 01 Feb 3401 (I claim the date, fuckers) the Shinra Republic will go public with the whole Pursuit of Happyness Incident and then declare some impossible-to-achieve changes the MEH needs to make and set a deadline (early to mid March I guess). However, we will open the possibility of "negotiations" which we intentionally know will fail in a bid to string the MEH along as we gather the strongest forces of our coalition (now freed to do so thanks to the public declaration) while trying to avoid them going on a preemptive strike.

Of course, the fatties will fall for it. :D

More seriously, I think Sorchus and maybe a couple others expressed that my Incident will not be seen by them as sufficient cause, and could make noises. In universe this could help "sell" the concept of the talks to the MEH as our coalition not really being that willing to initiate conflict. Of course we are perfectly willing to do so, but if it helps us buy time so be it.

(Members of Darkevilme's group shouldn't poo-poo us, though; I imagine that's a part of our unofficial agreement).

So when the attacks begin, the coalition I'm gathering will just so happen to focus on A25/26 and then the Chamarran group will just so happen to focus on B25/26 under whatever pretense they give for war. Possibly, a more semi-official 'public' agreement will be 'reached' (which is to say, firming up the unofficial one already in place) as we 'discover' that a second coalition is fighting the MEH, and of course neither group wants to fight the other.

This is the broad strokes of it all, and I'll take "silence means consent" from my partners (IOW, I have informed you all IC) though if you have an IC objection please PM and we can work with it. However, you can expect the Shinra Republic made the obvious argument that, we discovered through backchannel diplomatic efforts that the Chamarrans have allies and plan to strike at the MEH, and really there's nothing we can do to stop them. So it's for the best that we work together, if unofficially, rather than be at odds with a possible two-front conflict.

Oh, and the coalitions will launch attacks at roughly the same time, the better to split MEH forces. I haven't discussed any kind of Unofficially Official Coordination of Warplans, but if both coalition's members bring it up as a good idea, in theory we could do something like that.

EDIT: Messed up the Sector list. Should be good now. Essentially, my coalition focuses on the 25 Row, Darkevilme's group focuses on the 26 Row. Also, since I know this places Sol on a Bragulan hitlist:
SDNW4 Chat wrote:darkevilme: chamarrans will attempt to restrain the bragulan urge to burninate indiscriminately
