Fallout: New Vegas mods?

Post by SilverWingedSeraph »

So, I've had New Vegas for ages now. I figured I'd give it a while before I tried modding it, though, to let the modding community make some things that are actually worth using. I figure I'll probably need to get NVSE and Fallout Mod Manager for New Vegas, but I was wondering if people could recommend any good mods. I was able to make Fallout 3 much more enjoyable and tolerable by grabbing mods that people recommended to me, such as Wanderer's Edition, EVE, Darnified UI, Mart's Mutant Mod etc.

So, can anyone recommend some good mods for New Vegas that I might enjoy, to tighten up the gameplay and generally make things more enjoyable? Is there a New Vegas equivalent of Fallout Wanderer's Edition out?

Something similar to it- Project Mojave is made by the same guys and it's just starting to come out now. Haven't got around to downloading it yet though. At the risk of being unhelpful, I tend to just go to the new vegas nexus site and scrawl through the recent most rated and the all time most rated and see if any of that grabs my interest.

Delayed ghetto edit: Project Nevada, not Mojave.

Project Nevada is great, thanks. Just grabbed it.

And yeah, I did the same with Fallout 3, but sometimes I found that seeing what other people recommended could turn up some nice stuff that I wouldn't have thought of getting.

Depends on what you like. I just hit the fallout nexus website occasionally looking for new toys, but my primary interest is in cool new weapons and armour. The armoured Chinese stealth suit and the rhino revolver are my favoruites. I also run the colossus armour Pack - great designs there - as well as tailor maid for customization and the spectacularly cool irobot body swap. Also check our the Japanese Menace mod for some cool samurai themed power armor and a challenging fortress to fight.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

I'm a big fan of Book Of Earache for New Vegas. Same with Run The Lucky 38. I always grab perk-per-level and More Perks with it's optionals.

Most of the major mods (stuff like FOOK or FWE) are still in the works, though there's more than enough content in NV to keep you busy, unless you've played it to death already.

Obviously, Fellout comes highly recommended. I also use a mod called Nevada Skies for some nice weather effects. Dynamic time scale is nice, given how quickly one can burn through a day wandering around the wasteland otherwise. There's also a mod out there that lets you convince House not to exterminate the BoS. Besides that, I just use a couple item mods to give my character a bit more panache, so your tastes may vary.

Enclave Commander. Port of my favorite Fallout 3 mod. It's a WIP right now.
Star Wars weapons and armor.
Melissa Lewis companion mod. From the guy who made the Sydney companion mod for Fallout 3. Apparently, he got the voice actress to do the voice work for the mod.
Marcus companion mod From the maker of the previous mod.
Port of Ashara's Batman and Catwoman mod
Non-NCR flagged Ranger Combat Armor
New Vegas Bounties I
New Vegas Bounties II
House sparing the BoS

If you want more, I'll gladly PM you a full list of all the mods I have, plus the ones I'm considering downloading.

EDIT: I highly recommend combining the Star Wars mod with Enclave Commander. Stormtrooper squads at your command! Bwahahahahaha!

This looks interesting. I haven't tried it myself. It lets you travel to the Capital Wasteland and even play with the DLCs from Fallout 3.

I haven't touched New Vegas in a while, but if your looking for weapon mods, there is one that gives you access to something like 4 versions of the M1 Garand. Which is awesome just for the ping! sound when you run through your loaded ammo. I found it some time ago on Nexus of course. There is also a mod that lets you add scopes and silencers and the like to unique weapons like the All-American. Hmm, maybe this summer will be a good time to get all the shiny mods and play through the game again.
