And wasn't Whose Line Is It Anyway a British show first? I always liked Steve.

On Granada? yeah, good point, one way to find out. Warspite - Was it a collection of Skits and sketches; or single theme with Stephen Fry playing a Butler to Hugh Lauries aristocratic gentleman?Keevan_Colton wrote: Just thinking over old satellite lineups....it used to be Alias Smith and Jones with Jeeves and Wooster beside it.....
Bugger, another one I forgot. Pity 'Going Straight' wasn't as funnyCoaan wrote:Don't forget porrige also.....that was very funny stuff...

Gee, man, I don't know... I was refering to "A Bit of Fry and Laurie", just couldn't remember the name, but I don't recall those sketches.Rob Wilson wrote:Warspite - Was it a collection of Skits and sketches; or single theme with Stephen Fry playing a Butler to Hugh Lauries aristocratic gentleman?
I thought it was Steve...the older guy who was heavy-set, kinda balding with a fringe of grey hair, usually sat between Greg and Colin. Where the guests sit if they have one. He may have been a guest, I've only seen three or so shows with him on them.Rob Wilson wrote:Steve? The Dark wrote:I have to admit the only one I've seen is Monty Python, but it's definitely among the best comedies I've ever seen.

Well A bit of Fry and Laurie was a Sketch show.Warspite wrote:Gee, man, I don't know... I know, I know... I don't remember that sketch in particular.Rob Wilson wrote: [...]

I presume your talking about the American version here, the one with Drew Carey as the host. The Dark wrote: I thought it was Steve...the older guy who was heavy-set, kinda balding with a fringe of grey hair, usually sat between Greg and Colin. Ah I see what's happened. That other one i described wasn't a Sketch, it was the premise of Jeeves and Wooster - a Programme in which Stephen Fry played Jeeves, the intelligent Butler to Hugh Lauries incompetent Bertie Wooster. It had a single series I think.Warspite wrote:I know, I know... I don't remember that sketch in particular.Rob Wilson wrote: [...]

I don't Believe it! I forgot One foot in the grave, oh and Father Ted, A very peculiar Practice and The Kumars as well. My memory is obviously shot, time to take up residence in the Old Peoples home.Warspite wrote: "One Foot in the Grave", also a nice one.
Those would be the forgetable "oh, Mr Porter" and the painfully unfunny "Hi-De-Hi".Warspite wrote: OK...![]()
The only dose of British comedy I've been exposed to has been through BBC Prime, and a local station showing several comedy series. But, I've been watching them through a lot of years!
(oh, a few more... "You rang, M'Lord?", and the two previous ones by the same people, but I forgot the names, again!
Are you thinking of Radio Hebrides? A skit from Naked Video (Scottish Sketch show from the makers of Rab C Nesbitt - which I also forgot from my listWarspite wrote: And the one on a radar station up in Scotland!)
on the theme of Scotish Shows there was also Absolutely!, which had the Stoneybridge town council and the little girl that gave really daft explainations for everything and ended them with"It's twue, it's twue!"Rob Wilson wrote:Are you thinking of Radio Hebrides? Yes, right on! I liked the "Oh, Mr. Porter" just because it had engines.Rob Wilson wrote: Those would be the forgetable "oh, Mr Porter" and the painfully unfunny "Hi-De-Hi".

Dunno...maybe I'm getting the British episodes that were shot in America (Vegas or summat? I don't know much about television). Clive's the host, but it's Greg Proops, Colin, and Ryan Stiles on most every show. I've seen Josie Lawrence on two or three, and maybe it was Slattery I was thinking of. I'll only watch the American version because Wayne Brady's from the same town I'm from. It's not nearly as funny as the British version. They're not allowed to do as much.Rob Wilson wrote:I presume your talking about the American version here, the one with Drew Carey as the host. The Dark wrote: I thought it was Steve...the older guy who was heavy-set, kinda balding with a fringe of grey hair, usually sat between Greg and Colin. The UK one had Clive Anderson as the host and they were all guests, there were no permanent members though Ryan Stiles was a recurring guest towards the end and at the beginning they had Tony Slattery, Josie Lawrence and Mike McShane on most of the shows.

All along the Watchtower ?- if memory serves it was on in the 90's and lasted about 6 episodes. The RAF men manning the Radar station don't know the Cold war has ended. The only one I can think of.Warspite wrote:Nope, sorry not that one. Sorry I can't be more specific..Warspite wrote:Are you thinking of Radio Hebrides? (Add "Brittas Empire" to the long list)
YES! That's it! Too bad it was short, though... And I liked the first 2 series of Brittas, then it just got stale.
