No he isn't, or at the very least not by much - he's about a thousand, give or take a few years, while the Doctor's got to be pushing that at the very least, his consistent lies about his age over the last few years notwithstanding.

Um, Roman Centurion? 2,000 years, give or take.

He should be about twice the Doctor's age.

Two thousand. Twice as old as the Doctor.

Also, Rory is now my favorite character on the series, as of the last two episodes.

I wonder what the show would've been like if they'd cast Arthur Darvill as the Eleventh Doctor.

Its hard to imagine anyone but Smith playing Eleven as he is written, honestly. If Eleven were rewritten as a completely different person, maybe.

Serafina wrote:That's a good point by the way - so far we have never seen the Silence actually USE the fakeTARDIS for timetravel (or anything, really). The one we saw in "The Lodger" had crashed - it might have been an attempt to pilot it that simply failed. The ones we saw in this two-parter were never piloted anywhere at all.

Of course we have to explain somehow how the Silence made the TARDIS explode. Well, we'll find out i suppose.
In "The Vampires of Venice" towards the, end before the Doctor enters the TARDIS, he stops and chats to his companions: while this happens the TARDIS' door is slightly adjar then bangs shut. It looks like a production gaffe, but they inserted a stock door slamming sound effect (a lot of dialogue and noise for exterior location shooting is recorded later). And in "The Lodger" itself Amy, when trapped inside the TARDIS, looks into the middle distance, suddenly looks suspicious/shocked/angry shouting 'Hey! Hang on!', but a second later looks disorientated/forgetful.

And the Silence's counterfeit TARDIS we saw in this two parter could've been the same craft we saw in "The Lodger" - after the crew were slain by River Song, the auto-pilot kicked in and relocated the timeship to the single storey house four decades into the future, disguised the ship as the second floor, and then sought out a replacement pilot, which would be great if that was the actual backstory to "The Lodger" and fits into the current theme of wibbly-wobbly-timey-whimey. The interiors look slightly different (the control room in "The Lodger" looks broader and less dingy), but like the Doctor's TARDIS, it can presumably change its interior. The flight of stairs going up into Amy's attic in "The Eleventh Hour" looks suspect as well...

I bet [the vague disappointment evoked by the sight of a dwindling fire] that those hand-recorder thingies are going to be a plot point for this series. Just putting that out there.

I didn't see anybody mention it, but the scene with Amy's sudden fit of lust might make a bit more sense now. At the time, it seemed to come out of nowhere, and the Doctor's reaction seemed odd too. First he acted concerned and said something was wrong, then suddenly seemed largely unworried and just went on another adventure. If the Silence wanted Amy to bear a half Timelord child, maybe they were responsible for that awkward scene.

Although I suppose no-one is going to read this, a week late and all.

Hmm, why would the Silence want a half Time Lord child?

Hypothetical thinking here, but the Daleks nearly wiped out the multiverse a couple season ago, and they're still around. How was it stopped? A half human half time lord.

Could the Silence be trying to make sure they have more than one protector of the universe?

Revy wrote:Wasn't there a short story that had the same plot as this? I remember a story where this guy goes on stage with a hypnotist, and is told to "wake up". He does, to the point where he can actually see thousands of aliens walking the earth that humans have been brainwashed not to see, and there are hypnotic suggestions everywhere telling us how to behave. In the end he manages to make a broadcast using their powers telling the whole world to wake up in the same way he did, and humanity fights the aliens off. But he still dies on a Thursday the way he was told to at the start of the story.

Does anyone know that one?

Sounds like Ray Nelson's "Eight O'Clock In The Morning", which was VERY loosely adapted into the movie They Live. GREAT story, and this episode did, indeed, remind me of it.

About the little girl in the space suit with the regenerative powers....

This occurred to me today, and it may be totally whacked out. Could she be the daughter of Rose Tyler and the humanized-version of The Doctor in the alternate universe, somehow transported back here? Or is that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too over the top? It might account for her seeming humanity + regenerative ability...
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. Leonard Nimoy.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

I...I didn't understand this episode at all. I feel it was rushed and confusing. I'm going to go back and watch it again.
