Based on what it looks like it probably isn't a machine gun, based on the scope.
I see no tripod and the weapon being fired from the shoulder. I'm also seeing somthing not much larger then the RPG-29, which also happens to be shoulder fired.

Now that I think about it, it looks like a giant G11 anyway.
The angle of his body means that it isn't on his shoulder.

But screw it, you know more about this than I do. I concede to your experience.

It also looks like nothing but either a super sniper rifle, or some kind of laser/beam gun.
While it has four legs, making it neither a bipod nor tripod. They are all attached at almost the same point near the muzzle, which is what you find with a Bipod. While a Tripod will be attached at several points further back.

Didn't the guy with the girl get thrown into the guy at the top of the building. Then he went flying out.

Guy with bag on head and gun - Ed.

Normal guy and girl - Piro and Kimiko.

Robot girl and giant turtle - Ping and Gameru (drunk wash-up relative of Gamera).

What happened is that Ping threw Gameru into the very top of the building, causing Ed to be flung up in the air.

Doh!

That thing flying away from the impact at the top of the building is Gameru (because he's round and I think he's still holding his giant sake bottle), whereas Ed is still on the building, now in even worse condition besides not having any skin or face.

I thought it was pretty damn hilarious the way Ed looked up from the scope, especially with the paper-bag face being the way it was.

Yep. Piro satisifying Ed's need for a Bigass gun... poorly designed, but bigass nonetheless. :D

On the design, it has a stand mounted under the forepiece, yet the stand can only move in elevation not traverse; the weapon is held over the shoulder, yet has a buttplate; it has a huge scope, yet has an foresight (no rear sight); it has a rear mounted magazine, but no room for a recoil spring or even a feed mechanism; it appears to have a Pentium Chip fan mounted on the side of the barrel :? . I'm with Shinova on this, it should have microsoft on the side, not Sony.

And just so everyone's clear it's not a bipod, it's not a tripod, it's a stand.

Sea Skimmer it can't be an RPG of any description as it has no venturi for the propellant gas to port through; and sniper rifles can have tripods... it's rare but it does happen.

Ed works for Sony, hence he would be issued with a weapon made by them. :P

And you're forgetting that it could be a laser rifle. :P

An RPG? as a rifle? What are you smoking?
To be truthful it looks amazingly like the "standard issue big gun" from Ghost in the Shell.
I loved that, 14.5mm HEAT rounds. :D

That gun looks like a recoilless rifle, no way could you snipe with an RPG.

It was a reference to the poor design and unneccesary architecture. :P

Well, just keep in mind that it's suposed to look like a Sony product as less like a real gun. Hense the console parts. :P

Fine, it's a recoil-less sniper rifle. Makes sense, actually.

Better then being the high and mighty Q3 masturbatory railgun. :P

Why not? They have ranges out to 800m, and with a SACLOS system (or any other wire/laser guided system) there's nothing to stop you sniping with one. Admitedly something like a LAW66 or RPG7-16/18 would be far too inaccurate for sniping, but a LAW94 or anything larger will do just fine. But the weapon in question isn't an RPG.

Have you seen Stand Alone Complex yet? That has the mother of all sniper rifles in it. :D

Well we all know it isn't a good design, the fact that it has a cooling fan from a microchip on it points that out and it is Mega Tokyo. :P

But then there have been plans to make lasers that use special rounds filled with chemical reactant so as to avoid the need for an electrical generator of immense size, once you fire a shot that may last a second or so, the cartridge is ejected and another loaded. At least until we get MHD or fusion reactors down to size. 8)

EDIT: What I meant is that sniping with an RPG just seems too difficult and not as effective as a decent sniper rifle, IMHO anyway. :)

And yes, that goo gun that Ishikawa uses is BLOODY HUGE as is that anti-material rifle they use on the runaway tank. A gun that you have to BOLT to the ground is one that takes no shit.

I think it would have worked better if it was on a motorised stand and he was aiming it with a joypad :D or maybe a DDR mat... Snipe, Snipe Retribution

Hey, there's always the option of e-mailing Fred Gallagher and asking what it's suposed to be

I have to say that my favourite Sony touches to it are the PS2 eject button above the magazine and little fan on the very back. :)

Probably just wind you up and say a miniature Grable atomic cannon. One shot and an instant kill of your assassination target, even if you miss by a few klicks...

Yeah, that last one was the one I was talking about. Funny as fuck to watch them setting it up.

I dunno what calibre it was, but I recall they had three rounds per mag and they also used satellite tracking to help aim it as well as a scope to make sure they hit the right spot. It looked like the Barratt rifle from Hell.

If you can get CNX on Sky Digital, then watch it. Not only does it show all animé uncut, but my bro says they show these Hong Kong action films too, one had some agent from a building top sniping a motorcade with a Barratt .50 and blasting their roofs to bits. :D

Give him the Charged Particle Beam "sniper rifle" that Unit-01 uses to defeat Ramiel in Evangelion.

It only requires the power output of all of Japan, needs to change the circuit breaker after every shot like reloading the chamber of a bolt-action rifle and is around 200m long.

It's a VERY BFG.

That's the JSSDF Type-20 Positron rifle prototype, which NERV never gave back. :)

Oh, and the fuses had to be changed, not circuit breaker. Circuit breaker wouldn't make any sense. :P
