When they were infiltrating Apophis' two Ha'Tak that were about to attack earth, and they're standing about a dozen stories above the shield generators. Bra'tac starts going into this long-winded explanation of everything they need to fight through to get there, and Jack just looks at him, pulls out two grenades, and throws them down. Sums up the attitude of earth throughout the entire show.

Finding that, even in the most desperate circumstances, stranded alone facing alien diseases, starvation, and a myraid of ways of dying horribly aboard Destiny, someone makes a still.

Greer's offscreen beating of Telford.

Young's onscreen beating of Telford.

Young's onscreen beating and vacuuming of Telford. What can i say? I just don't like the guy.

For that matter, Young's beating of Rush. Half the time I wanted to smack these characters, and it was awesome when they did it for me.

Greer's barbecue.

Thus Spake Zarathrusta/2001 theme- followed by the Numa Numa dance. :)

Teal'c's interactions with the kid in 'Bane' ending with a squirt gun battle.

Mitchell's laughable fencing skills. You know what I'm talking about.

Kinsey getting verbally slapped down by the President in 'Lost City.' "Maybe. But I think I'll go with my first thought which was: Shut. The Hell. Up."

"Lucy, I'm home."
"I am not Lucy."
"C'mon T. I'm back to normal, let me out."
"I cannot know that. You called me Lucy."

Mitchell waving a lemon in McKay's face in 'the Pegasus Project.'

Ah, good times.

I prefer 'Disclosure' Kinsey spends the entire episode trying to get the UN to shut the SGC down. Until Hammond pulls his trump card and Thor beams down into the conference room.

Kinsey: So Commander Thor...

Thor: *SUPREME* Commander.

Still my favorite Thor moment in all of SG-1.

It's utterly priceless.

And Kinsey getting fired:

"Consider your resignationa ccepted Bob."
"You can't do that to me!"
"Oh, please, I've got enough on you to have you shot."
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

The episode with a teenage Jack clone.

The time the Goa'uld destroyed every ion cannon on the new Tollan homeworld, except they missed one.

'Zero Hour', 2nd best season eight episode after 'Good to be the King.' Jack's first week replacing Hammond: SG-1 is missing and Baal says he has them, an alien plant is taking over the SGC, the president is visiting and everyone is bugging him about the arrangements, and he nearly started a war when he locks two diplomats in a room until they can get along.
"You dare mock me."
"Baal, who are you talking to? Of course I dare mock you."

'The Other Guys.' "We might as well be wearing red shirts!"

I always loved the changed dynamic in "Full Alert", where Kinsey's lost all political power and Jack's running the SGC, leading to golden bits like:

KINSEY: You want me to wear a wire?!

O'NEILL: That's the deal.

KINSEY: I am not a spy!

O'NEILL: Think of it this way: if you don't do what they want, they'll kill you. If you don't do what we want ... we'll let ‘em.

KINSEY: Well, that's as good as pulling the trigger yourself! I thought Stargate Command didn't do that sort of thing.

O'NEILL: Well ... we're under new management.

Incidentally, I watched Full Alert last niht, and like the proper Sci Fi nerd I am, I noticed the Prometheus firing on the Alkesh with something that was most definitely NOT a railgun or a missile. It looked like a larger version of the staff cannons on the Alkesh itself.

I think you mean Felger, or possibly Bill Lee. Both of them worked on reverse-engineering Goa'uld plasma weapons. Something I imagine would be quite a high priority, though last I remember hearing they still shorted out half the time.

And then, of course, they got much cooler ray-guns for the ships.

I'll have to watch the episode again.

Kawalsky's eyes glowing.

The first time we see an Asgard warship hovering menancingly in the sky above the massive Goa'uld encampment and within a few seconds the entire Jaffa army is swept away with darting fingers of energy eminating from the Asgard vessel, the first real turning point in Earth's war against the Goa'uld Empire.

A Replicator clinging to a sheet of Asgard wreckage bobbing in the ocean.

Reckoning - O'Neill and Reynolds rescuing Siler:

"Use two of those things."
"Sir?"
"It's a blast door"

"Already in it sir."
"Well that's...weird."

Not to mention the classic O'Neill/Her'ak exchange.

Even funnier if you're an English teacher. I once had to stop myself from saying that at a student.

Jack's reaction on finding Maybourne in 'Watergate.'
"Holy frozen bad guys."

'Camelot' where Daniel keeps trying to convince the locals there's no such thing as magic. Usually right before someone gets beamed up. "Boy, my timing is off today."

Daniel keeps descending naked. The first time it was pretty funny. The second time was hilarious.

'Smoke and Mirrors.' Best interrogation scene ever.

No accounting for taste I suppose.

"You are Hammond of Texas?" Maybe it's the way he says it. Maybe it's the way he covers his head when he says it. Maybe it's just that Bra'tac recognizes Hammond from Jack's description "Just a man. A very good, very bald man from Texas." But that always cracjs me up.

Long as we're on the topic of the General, him and Teal'c flying a modified Death Glider through the gate and kicking ass on the other side. Complete with genuine texan 'yee-hah!'

Am I subhuman if I actually liked some bits of the Ori arc?

Otherwise, I still think the original feature film is the best Stargate that ever got made. No series villain ever measured up to Ra in any way whatsoever.

No you're not.

I don't hate the majority of the Ori arc -- even if I do feel Season 8 was the perfect note to close on. I liked the exploration of the Ancients' back-story; the 'first evolution of humanity' explanation never really sat well with me. I like how they brought in Arthurian myth and the Quest for the Holy Grail. And I loved the concept, of ascended Ancients with the same technology, but none of the scruples of non-interference as their MWG cousins.

Sadly, the whole 'life-force vampires' revelation instantly torpedoed its potential and my interest.

Yeah. Ba'al is my favorite SG antagonist, but Ra is my favorite Goa'uld.

Jaye Davidson set the bar high and none of the System Lords, not even Cliff Simon, was able to measure up. Ra was just so...alien and menacing. He scared the shit out of me in '94 and still creeps me out.
