Damn, now I know why fundies never conceed; they don't have enough spine to apologise without totally bowing down and practically sucking your dick in gutless worship. What other kind of total lack of dignity or self-respect would you expect from someone who lets a book about a man in the sky make all their descisions for them?

Give him a chance. I used to basically be a fundie until I got into my first theology course, and look at me now (OK, so I'm not the best person on the boards, but most of y'all can put up with me

). If he proves himself to have changed, then we eliminate the title. If not, we've got flamebait. Either way we end up better off.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that's likely, as well. Notice how he utterly fails to mention seeing reasoning or accepting evidence, and simply sticks to making it a 'converting' issue.

Either he's trying to bullhit us, or he totally missed the point. I'm still waiting for a sign he's actually changed, so he better post again to clear up why he was wrong, at least for the sake of the optimistic people here (don't wanna see their parade get rained on just because some prick lied to them

It's very hard to believe someone can go from "I am right and I have absolutely nothing to conceed" to "I was totally wrong, piss on me and let me call you daddy" in a very short time, without showing any steps in between. Did he even respond on either of the debate threads? If he didn't than I'd be suspicious of anything he says, becuase I'd expect to see him conded on one of those threads. Have any mods run an IP check on that post?

I don't understand. What was so sarcastic about my response? I wanted to explain myself so it wasn't thought that I conceded simply to give up. I wanted to to understand me and why I was doing so. And while I still truly don't know what to believe right now, I am in a transitional stage. As I look at the evidence and reasoning behind your statements I can see the logic. So I'm not the best with words or phrasing. Sorry. I'm trying.

No one takes apologies or concessions seriously if they're filled with self-loathing statements like "I am worse than worm feces," because no one would ever say something like that unless they were joking or bullshitting. "Yes, I was wrong, and I admit it" is always preferable to, "I was wrong, I hate myself, I'm a horrible person bla bla bla" because it sounds more sincere. The latter "apology" is something you say to get your wife or girlfriend to let you sleep in the bed again. The former is a debate concession.

You were flamed because you were being an ass. Now that you've allegedly changed your ways, there is no need to keep flaming you. So just knuckle up and show us you've changed your ways.

I am always for giving another chance; after all it takes no effort from us. The Ambassador is the one who will go through the effort to display change of heart, we just observe. We don't know how much of Darth Wong's site he may have looked at and contemplated recently. I myself recall some here who were former Fundie types, and I've experimented with the challenge of unproven things in science being akin to 'belief'.

Ambassador, it is very rare for a person to do such a 180-degree turn; there will be some who are suspicious of the suddeness of it. You don't have to renounce religion to be here, in fact there are quite a few people here who believe in God (I am one of them) and it creates no problems or disrespect.

Just show your sincerity and the community comes around. The caveat: Anyone trying to fool us with mock displays will end up getting burned. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Since THE AMBASSADOR has admitted that he was wrong I think that the FM title should be removed...
...It can always be re-instated should reason to do so arise, but for now I see no harm in removing it.

THE AMBASSADOR have you read Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World? If not, run to the nearest library, get a copy and read it.
It's been way too long since I read it last...starts rummaging through the big pile of books in the corner...

BTW would it be possible to edit his name so that it won't be in all caps, it looks kinda foolish now, especially as it is so long?
