I wonder. What if the Silence are another Time Lord weapon? They wanted to destroy the universe, check. Rassilon wanted to do that too. What if it is another one of his schemes?

Could be.
Hey, anyone catch the prequel/trailer stuff? Was it just me, or do the following apply:
1) Rory being extremely badass when saying "Where's. My. Wife."
2) Rory is wearing centurion armor?
I do think the "good man" in "A Good Man Goes to War" is actually Rory, not the Doctor.

Thanks.
That looks pretty damn good actually. Time for Rory to kick some ass.

Re: Doctor Who S32E6, "The Almost People" [spoilers]
There also seemed to be a marked difference between the flesh and the gangers. When Jennifer was talking about the Flesh on earth, she seemed to be talking about it less like millions of individuals than one being, which ties in with the Doctor constantly hearing the Flesh asking 'why,' not individual gangers. It seems like the Flesh in its white goop form has a sort of mind of its own, and when you make a ganger you put another mind into it, so its almost like two minds are attempting to control one body/life. Which would explain why after performing that one act of humanity, the gangers stopped appearing slimy at all, because the 'human' mind was reinforced by acting like a human, while the Jenny ganger, who told Rory she felt weak and wanted someone stronger to look after her, just gave in and let the Flesh do the work. In essence, she stopped being Jenny, and became the Flesh, which was why she became so inhuman, because she wasn't.Why does the original Doctor hear the Flesh better than Doctorganger? Two reasons, I think. First, I think the Doctor was deliberately listening. Second, not all the gangers are as tuned in to the Flesh as others. Ganger Jennifer, with her memories of being decommissioned, clearly was solidly plugged in. The results were not pretty. Ganger Cleaves, on the other hand, had no access to any such memories, nor did anyone else's ganger, apparently. I have to wonder if the Flesh normally had a barrier between its larger self and gangers - given that the Flesh seemed to be in pain, blocking the ganger access to such memories might have been a mercy to both ganger and Flesh. Certainly, ganger Jennifer wasn't making anyone feel better.
So, when you get something like the Doctor ganger, the Doctor 'mind,' which is a lot of things, but not weak, takes over on the spot, and completely shuts out the Flesh, making it harder for him to hear it than the 'real' Doctor.

Anyway, Rory might be a bit bothered by raising someone else's child, aside from any unknown difficulties that might arise from, essentially, trying to raise an alien. On the other hand, he is a nice guy, and if I remember "Amy's Choice" correctly, he wants to be a father. Though, it would be interesting if the Doctor took the child along with him. Arguably horribly negligent and irresponsible, given the kind of situations he gets into, but interesting. In a way, it would bring things full circle. Didn't the series begin with the Doctor traveling with his teenaged granddaughter? Also, I want to see the Doctor being a father out of simple curiosity.
I'm not sure if three-way rape (especially since we're talking clinical rape/unauthorized medical experimentation as opposed to what people usually think of as rape) is too dark or nasty for Doctor Who though. This is a series where the protagonist has committed genocide on multiple occasions.
Also, regarding the trailer: that looks epic. Let's hope they pull it off well.

Almost all shows have a mid-season break these days. Gives them a chance to rerun the eps and stretch the season out, while doing some last minute changes to the second half. I presume it also lets the shooting schedule stretch as well, so it's not as rushed.2000AD wrote:How can you have a 'mid-season finale' ? That just doesn't make any sense.

They're doing the american thing and splitting it up in to two half seasons. The next episode is the last one we're going to see until autumn irrc.

Awwww hell no, of all the things to pick up from US TV.
Broomstick noticed an interesting thing, as Amy didn't know the Doctor's had switched she dropped the bomb on him that she'd seen him die. That better have some sort of impact.

His Roman sword could stab right through a cyberman, and the door behind it, and was clearly made with superior Nestene technology. Perhaps the Nestene-made armour is similarly superior to the original armour.Raxmei wrote:The words "Why are you dressed like that at all" spring to mind. I think Rory was channeling his Lone Centurion persona. The Doctor did ask him if he remembers being the Lone Centurion back in episode 1.

Can't be the reason though - that armour and weaponry technically never existed, along with the rest of the universe "version 1".NecronLord wrote:His Roman sword could stab right through a cyberman, and the door behind it, and was clearly made with superior Nestene technology. Given all the times there have been "We can't tell him that he is going to die" moments, I must agree with this. If the revelation has no effect, it will make all the fuss about hiding the fact from the Doctor really stupid.2000AD wrote:Awwww hell no, of all the things to pick up from US TV.

Mixed feelings on this one. The advances to the over arcing plot were welcome but the rest of it was a bit of a jumbled mess. And the giant goo pile monster? Not remotely an effective villian. Some of the stuff between the leader and her ganger were good could have done with more that.
Rory, sadly, was worse than useless and proved himself to be a gullible idiot, I guess he's only allowed to be awesome off screen.
The two doctors = double the amount of motor mouthing sections were cool but beyond that their interaction with Amy seemed one note and that one note was ultimately wrong.

It occurs to me that Rory was the only character in this story that didn't die. I wonder if that was coincidence.

Episode was far too jumbled and a mess for me - Totally saw the 'We switched shoes' bullshit coming a mile off so I was not too impressed with that 'reveal'.
All of a sudden I get the impression Rory is going to be the person River Song killed in some convoluted garbage fest that turns out all right in the end. While Karen Gillian is attractive like all the other companions, it gets rather old to have starry eyed girls following the Doctor everywhere. I wouldnt mind seeing Rory developing into a stronger character that challenges the Doctor but everytime they develop to that point they get booted.

Re: Doctor Who S32E6, "The Almost People" [spoilers]
One of the reason why Rose is a better companion was because of her interaction with her family. Despite her mom being a chav, and a rather petty one at that who gossips and is pretty much an otherwise annoying unhappy bitter person, you can see that she really loves her daughter because she's the only thing she's got left - and you can see all her regrets and stuff, over the things in her life and all. And the way Rose interacts with these characters is almost soap opera-ish, but her and Jackie and Micky the idiot, they were such great silly yet strangely touching and sometimes heartwrenching fun. Man. They were the perfect domestic bunch to saddle Doctor Destro with. How Jackie made Destro promise to bring Rose back alive, and how Destro had to fulfill that promise, and how much that adds to his character which he conveyed as being so full of loss and regret, it was wonderful. That kind of interaction made all their characters stronger. It was awesome.
