The Art of Attaining Godhood (LP: Dominions 3)

Post by doom3607 »

No, I'm not going to start a second game LP while the one I have is stalled. Like I said, the computer I run it on is having problems, but I ought to restore regular updates soon. Nor will this one start until the end of exams, I.E. end of next month. However, since one of the options I'd like to present for this one would result in needing some time to get ready, i thought I'd prepare it ahead of time.

Dominions 3 is, of course, a world-conquering strategy game. The player is a sort of Olympian-type physical god, who's out to become the one real god (by killing off everyone who disagrees) because the old One True God has wandered off and disappeared. *cough* Loser god *cough*

And I'd like to make an LP out of it. So, without further ado, I'd like to present my idea of the options for how this could be done (after exams, of course).

There are three ages. The Early Age is probably the lightest in tone and is very magic-heavy with smaller but more magical armies. The Middle Age is moderate in tone with a balance between magic and tech/army size. The Late Age is a crapsack world with fun things like an entire empire dead, gone to Hell, and come back to kill everyone else, and Cthulhu launching his own little invasion, Atlantis being driven out of the ocean, and other such fun.

Then there are all the nations. I think we should:

1. Play as Late Age Ermor (the dead guys) with our own version of Satan or something as their god.

2. Play as Late Age R'lyeh (Cthulhu's people) with our god being Cthulhu (duh).

3. Mod in our own nation based on this very forum. We would, naturally, be led by the god Darth Wong, Murderizer of the Dark Star, Obliterator of Idiots, Slayer of Stupidity, etc.

Number three is my prefered option, but it would take time to implement, thus why I'm asking now. I could probably do the work on actually making it, well, work, but only if other people do the art. You don't want me doing the art. Ever. :banghead:

Interesting....if we model it on this forum though, does that mean the Mods are the Angels?
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.

Or just ludicrously powerful summoned beings.

Gyah, edit time was up. To elaborate: mods and certain well known people could be summoned by race-specific spells so we can ensure only having one of each of them present at a time. They could also have fun unique abilities, I.E. Shroomy would spread madness in whatever region he happened to be in, Shep would have a special 'nuke' spell that is the most powerful combat spell in the game, Thanas might be good at oppressing the population, etc. And of course Darth Wong would wind up being a god.

That is an incredibly stupid and maybe even offensive idea, given his stated atheism.

What, it's a crime to have him running an empire based on this forum? Fine, sorry then. Take that one off the table and all.

Don't get snippy with me if people find some faults in your inane story.
