Does the total number of posts and threads on the forums have anything to do with sucking bandwith? I ask this for two reasons. First of all, if so, does that explain why the boards have been getting slow lately? Second, if so, then can't the old threads, (like we really need 102 pages of threads in the OT forum) be deleted or just saved to a hard file somewhere to free up space. In this having to freeze post counts where they are, and getting them to start again. (In a sense, someone with 50 posts is kept there when 49 of thiers are moved off the server, yet when they post again it takes them to 51). If that's possible, would that allow for larger avatars?

The number of posts has nothing to do with bandwidth, although it does affect the CPU utilization of the database process somewhat. Bandwidth is all about bytes being pushed from the server to your PC, not between internal processes inside the server and its hard drive.

I would also point out that some poor bastards ( i.e. me) do not like things that make the page download slower.
