AFA says Nazis were run by 'homosexual thugs'

Speaking on his AFA-hosted radio show, Bryan Fischer reiterated that the Nazi Party was run by “homosexual thugs.”

This is not the first time Fischer has made such a claim.

Fischer went on a tirade last year after Congress approved a plan to repeal “Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” the 1993 law that bans gay and bisexual troops from serving openly, telling his radio audience that Hitler was gay and specifically recruited gay soldiers to carry out his most vicious attacks because straight men were not brutal enough.

“Homosexual soldiers basically had no limits and the savagery and brutality they were willing to inflict on whomever Hitler sent them after,” he said. “So he surrounded himself, virtually all of the Stormtroopers, the Brownshirts, were male homosexuals.”

Last month he returned to the topic, suggesting that opponents of openly gay military service would be physically tortured.

“It's just like Islam, it's just like the Nazis. With the homosexual lobby there is no place for freedom of speech. There is no place for differences of opinion.”

“If you say a word of complaint about any homosexual behavior, then you are going to be sent to re-education camp,” he said. “I mean, you're going to be sent to some place to get your brain washed and get your mind right. Until you are willing to say you support deviant sexual behavior, you're not getting anywhere.”

On Thursday's broadcast, Fischer took exception with claims he had said gay men were responsible for the Holocaust, then reiterated that he believed the Nazi Party was run by “homosexual thugs.”

“They say that I make the contention that gays caused the Holocaust. This is wrong. I have been very clear in my writings and everything I've said that the Nazi Party is responsible for the Holocaust,” Fischer said.

“But how did the Nazi Party come into being? The Nazi Party, ladies and gentlemen, was formed in a gay bar in Munich. And historians agree that Hitler's earliest enforcers - the Stormtroopers, the Brownshirts - were almost, without exception, homosexuals. So it was homosexual thugs that helped Hitler to form the Nazi Party.”

“In other words: no homosexual thugs, no homosexual Brownshirts, no homosexual Stormtroopers; No Nazi Party!” he added.

On the one hand, he's clearly just trying to use the Godwin's Law strategy that is far too common with the American Right...

But, I also wonder if he actually does know that people other than Jews were rounded up in Nazi Germany. Hell, I found out about that faucet mostly after high school, and only learned about the pink-triangle thing, maybe, two years ago. There're a lot of people who seem to think the entire body count of the Holocaust was Jewish.

Though, if he does know, he's definitely preying on that failure of the public schools' history curriculum.

By the same token, I'm sure there were probably a few deeply closeted among the ranks of the Nazi's thugs. We've got radically anti-gay preachers being caught with male prostitutes, after all. Albeit being pretty clear that he's not playing on the "They walk among us" tactic of fear-mongering.

Ernst Rohm was homosexual, as were a number of his cronies holding high ranking positions in the SA. Hitler knew all about it and ignored it when it served his interests, then used it as one of several convenient pretexts for when he decided to eliminate them. I have seen speculation that Reinhard Heydrich was gay, but I haven't exactly researched the subject to see if it was true and the theory that Canaris was holding a secret Jewish pedigree over him seems much more plausible. There has never been any serious evidence that Hitler himself was homosexual, or had any homosexual inclinations, and in so far as OSS psychological analysis can be trusted his sexual deviancy was focused on masochism. Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, Hess, Bormann and so on were all heterosexual as was the overwhelming majority of the Nazi Party bureaucracy and the German military that made up the foundations of the regime. The Nazis sent homosexuals off to the death camps, at least the ones that openly defied the regime and rejected its various twisted ideals of German manhood. It is a little off to say the Nazis targeted them in the same way they targeted ethnic "pollutants" like Jews, Slavs, and Roma, but they certainly killed plenty and were obviously not acting in the best interests of homosexuals.

Really it's just an attempt to appropriate the Nazi label to apply it to something the commentator in question doesn't like. That in this case the label is being applied to a group victimized by the Nazis is pretty obscene, as well as being historically illiterate and disgraceful as such comparisons always all.
