Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
This battle pits Samus Aran, in her upgraded form at the end of Super Metroid (no hyper beam) against Master Chief, with an overshield, plasma rifle, and Spartan Laser.

Master Chief gets stomped? How could this go any other way?
Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
Someone did a computer animation where they fight and it turns out Master Chief is a girl and they just decide to go be power armor lesbians.ChosenOne54 wrote:Master Chief gets stomped? How could this go any other way?
...Yeah, well, you did ask for alternatives.
OP: the Master Chief just can't compete with Samus. Not technologically, and almost certainly not in personal proficiency. I doubt even the Spartan Laser will do Chief much good, since it's a big honking anti-armor weapon with an obvious lead-in time and Samus's armor is VERY agile.

In the spirit of debating I am going to have to call you out to provide evidence for that claim. Link or it did not happen.Tanasinn wrote:OP: the Master Chief just can't compete with Samus. It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.
You win. There, I have said it.
Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

Really, by the end of any Metroid game, Samus' basic rapid fire beam turns into a 6ftx6ft wall of plasma/electricity/ice that can phase through walls. And she can fire it like a machine gun! Or she could spam power bombs, super missiles, use the screw attack, speed booster... oh, so many options.OP: the Master Chief just can't compete with Samus. OP: Seriously, why do you hate Master Chief?

That's not the Master Chief, by the way - it's the Spartan from Dead or Alive, who, yes, was a girl.RecklessPrudence wrote:Here ya go.

Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
Do we have anything for Metroid figures other than game-mechanics?
I am of the opinion that comparisons cannot be made without something to measure and game-mechanics are terrible for this purpose. Hell you could argue that Super-Mario with his 20 foot jumps, ability to smash man-sized holes in bricks with this bare hands and throwing fireballs thing would give him the ability to take down the Batman.

Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
O see, Mario has a very glaring weakness, 300 seconds into a scene he just dies. I think Batman can manage to wait him out.
People at birth are naturally good. Their natures are similar, but their habits make them different from each other.

There is some official information, but it doesn't explain too much:Steven Snyder wrote:Do we have anything for Metroid figures other than game-mechanics?

Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
Samus Aran would ripe Master Chief a new one.
Consider -
When using her Screw Attack function, she can't be damaged by anything any enemies have thrown at her (with the exception of Mother Brain at the end of Super Metroid, but hell, even using Game Genie cheat doesn't stop MB until the pre-programmed sequence is completed). This includes being immersed in lava and acid, dragon fire, and a shit load of other crap. Her Speed Booster function has similiar capabilities, and with both, she can literally drill her way (at sonic speeds) through bedrock.
(Mind you, I could be incorrect about the not taking damage from lava when using the Screw Attack).
She can hang out in lava in for extended periods of time (shown during her escape from Ridley's lair), and take incredible amounts of punishment. (i.e the entire Metroid game series)
Her Super Missiles hit with and explode with enough force to shake a large cavern.
She has a energy beam that FREEZES targets.
Quite frankly, this is as bad a curp stomp as an Executor Class Star Dreadnaught against a Federation Cruiser. The Star Dreadnaught's going to open fire, and the Federation Cruiser MIGHT have enough time to go 'oh crap'.
She might just speed-booster should ram Master Chief into a wall, bitch slap him once or twice, and he if doesn't surrender, freeze him solid. If her orders are 'capture', he wakes up tied up in her ships brig. If her orders are kill, she puts a Super Missile or two into him and calls it a day.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Yeah. Master Chief gets stomped any way you look at it.
Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
I'd also like to note that her one major advantage Samus has over any other power armor in-universe - at least, as noted in the original Metroid game manual, and present as a mechanic in all but the Game That Shall Not Be Named - is that her Chozo armorsuit can absorb energy from defeated enemies to refill its own shields.
While the MC has his own regenerating shield, Samus' armor takes vastly more punishment without failure, and seems to be absolutely immune to harm so long as it retains some power reserve.

She can survive indefinitely in magma, as well as walk through it like it's AIR.

Samus slaughters the Chief without even slowing down. This has been done before, three seperate times in fact.
OK, you piqued my curiosity, which Metroid game is that? I've played just about every one there is and can't recall one where she can't do that. I understand if you don't want to provide the name, but a clue to the game in question would be appreciated.Molyneux wrote:the Game That Shall Not Be Named

Are you claiming Mario CAN'T do those things? Bear in mind, Mario is capable of travelling through space.

Just look at what Bowser survived. In Mario Galaxy, he fell into a star, which then proceeded to explode, and turn into a massive black hole threatening to consume the universe with bowser right in the centre. He woke up with a headache.Stark wrote:[Are you claiming Mario CAN'T do those things? Bear in mind, Mario is capable of travelling through space.

Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
I see, well that was my guess. I've played everything except Other M and Hunters (not counting the pinball game) and I was pretty sure Hunters still worked like normal. Bah, I went from hope to despair with every new thing I heard about Other M after the teaser trailer so I guess I shouldn't be surprised they messed up something else about Samus.ChosenOne54 wrote:Other M, it has a completely new health system which is, frankly, shit.avatarxprime wrote: OK, you piqued my curiosity, which Metroid game is that? Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
Haven't played through Other M yet, I'm only at the beginning.
I want to play it just to see how bad it really it
I replayed Super Metroid right before, though, just so my memory of Metroid doesn't get completely ruined.

Re: Samus Aran vs. Master Chief
Despite what the Haloid video might tell you, Master Chief doesn't stand a chance. In terms of armour, equipment, and training/experience, Samus has the advantage. The question is how long Master Chief can survive.
Even "the Atrocity That Must Not Be Named"'s portrayal supports this.

Why horrid? The fighting scenes were epic and reminded me of the good old days of PC shooters where graphics were unimportant. It also made me go back to Quake 3.ChosenOne54 wrote:Please don't remind me of that horrid video!

It reminded me of what Halo fanboys think Master Chief can do.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
