You know, if it wasn't for the massive collateral damage that would result, I'd be all for letting it catastrophically shut down so that people can see that they actually do. Hell, maybe the collateral damage might actually be worth it.

Broomstick you made a claim that there are people in the federal government who want the government and economy to crash, the only evidence anyone has provided is D Turtle ranting about Ron Paul, a fringe wackjob. You can't even be bothered enough to even simply name any other names. Just because far right conservatives do bad things doesn't mean we should all sit around in a left wing circle jerk making shit up when the truth is already bad enough.

So i'll ask you again, got anything to back up that claim or are you just going to let other people do your work for you (and not succeed I might add).

When I'm not spending 9 hours a day installing drywall and painting rooms I'll have time to worry about your panties being in a twist and come up with something. It would help if, as I requested you state what sort of evidence you will accept.

As far as Paul being a fringe whackjob, though - he's duly elected fringe whackjob, and thus constitutes proof that one does not need to be either sane or sensible to be elected to Clowngress.

Yes because you are the only one who works hard for a living on this board and thus exempt from rules about providing evidence for claims. I spend a lot of time outside doing hard work in the heat also, save it for an episode of Nancy Grace.

I would think quotes that indicate the intentions of the people you are accusing would be sufficient. If Ron Paul is the only person you can come up with just go ahead and say so.

He is the first one that springs to mind, yes - I thought other people jumping in with examples would be sufficient for your needs, however, if you must have additional names and such I'll be more specific after checking to make sure I'm remembering things correctly. But it won't be in the next ten minutes.

If you have a problem with how fast I'm responding to you by all means take it up with a mod. Otherwise, don't bitch if I take a day or two to get back to you. Taking time to reply is not being "exempt".

All I did was ask you to support a claim that you yourself made, you are the one taking it personally. Do try to remember that. I feel the need to do so because there is no high ground in mindless back slapping that serves little actual purpose, even if my ideology is shared. Making false generalizations and claiming the other side just wants to ruin everything is the problem which has caused American politics to degrade into a ideshow and I would hope people of reasonable intelligence wouldn't indulge so deeply.

I don't think these people wake up in the morning, twiddle their Snidley Whiplash moustaches, and say "Oh! How can I destroy the US today? Bwa-ha-HA!". I think they sincerely believe what they say, and they have good intentions, which makes them no less dangerous. And that's what I meant - they want to achieve their goals, to hell with any collateral damage, and they think it's all for the best.

Any idiot who says "we must balance the budget" but will not even consider raising taxes, or worse yet, not even consider letting a "temporary" tax cut expire, is a fucking idiot and playing with fire. They're putting ideology above the best interests of the nation. The whole "starve the beast" and "drown it in a bathtub" approach to the Federal government we've been hearing from the far right, the religious nutjobs who want to turn the US into a theocracy, the ones who want to return to a gold standard - those are the people I'm referring to. They want to turn back the clock to 1890 except they don't really know what 1890 was ever actually like. And most of them would cheerfully cut their own throat rather than see Obama re-elected or the Democrats succeed at anything positive. We've has numerous threads on all of these topics.

But instead of my usual novel length post I dashed off a short one and you want to turn it into a raging debate, as usual. Well, that will teach me to be succinct.

Take all the time you need finding those quotes. I'm interested in knowing which Republicans actually want these bad things to happen. Ron Paul is the one you have come up with so far.

Go read the latest Venting thread. I think you might have been knocked down a few notches on her priority list.

She's had plenty of time to post in some of the 40k threads I've been reading along with a testing thread about rectal heat tolerance. I don't go looking through all of her posts nor do I care too. Its probably just more bitching about not having any money yet again.

I work in a place that is dependant on the gorvernment working and BRINGS IN MONEY for the feds (a national park, and outlying areas) yet, I am surrounded by Tea-ppers and Ayn Randists... It gets worse with the unions, they talk about how they don't need the unions who they say are all currupt and ruining the economy, and then take full advantage of the medical, overtime, and protections when it comes to discipline and harrassment.

The Gang of Six has produced a deal that includes both spending cuts and revenue increases.
El Moose Monstero: That would be the winning song at Eurovision. I still say the Moldovans were more fun. And that one about the Apricot Tree.
That said...it is growing on me.
Thanas: It is one of those songs that kinda get stuck in your head so if you hear it several times, you actually grow to like it.
General Zod: It's the musical version of Stockholm syndrome.

And that deal has been summarily thrown out because it touches Social Security which won't be allowed through by the AARP.

The official deadline is 8/2 but the actual deadline may be 7/22 due to the time it takes to pass a bill and have it take effect. If no deal by Friday expect to see significant fireworks in the markets.

Week 2 of waiting for claims backup ends, still nothing. I know forum rules don't have a set time but this is a little silly.

In case you didn't pay attention to the Venting threads in the recent past, Broomstick's mother-in-law died a couple of weeks ago. Given that my SO's mother died on July 1st, I have some inkling of all the crap involved when that kind of thing happens and in my situation the family tree and the various relationships involved were much simpler than in Broomstick's situation. That alone is quite enough to push things like responding to an internet forum thread way down the list of priorities because it can be an epic headache and then some.

And it's not the only thing that she has to deal with right now. So why don't you let it go, because there was a very similar conversation in the other thread and I would not expect this to turn out any different.
