After it seemed like the GOP had come to thier senses Obama Storms Out of the talks now.
They have? The House GOP (not the leadership so much as the people whose votes are required to actually approve any deal inked by Congressional leadership) have pretty much promised that they won't accept any tax hikes, and are unlikely to vote on any extension of the debt ceiling unless the sitting President promises to bend over and take it up the ass without lube. This is regardless of anything Senate Republicans have put forward. For that matter, House Republicans like Michelle "Insane in the Membrane" Bachmann have outright accused the President of lying about the severity of the crisis.
And even the 'compromise' only provides three short-term extensions to the debt limit. I believe Republicans favoring the plan have essentially said it gives the President three chances to get with the program.
No wonder he stormed out. The Republicans would give him a three month extension that would put all the blame on Obama and come October they would do this entire circus all over again. Fuck them.
Obama is also getting some of what he paid for in the past,. Because in the name of "bipartisanship" he acted like a spineless Republican lackey every chance he got, the only ways put for him now are either rolling over (which the Republicans expect) or taking this game of chicken to its conclusion and letting the Republicans drive the country straight into a wall without flinching and then pummeling them for all he is worth afterward. He needs to demonstrate that he can play hardball, but he's squandered all previous chances, even though he could have done so more comfortably and with better results.

Why is it so goddamned hard to get little assholes like you to admit it when you fuck up? Is it pride? What gives you the right to have any pride?

It dawned on me while at work today that if a single person had the capability to bring the whole world crashing to a halt because of actions like this, they would most likely be seen as a criminal in the eyes of the world and steps would be taken against them. Yet America gets away with this monstrous behavior and there are many citizens who are fine with it.
I lack the vocabulary to describe how terrifying that is to me.

Again, this one of the reasons I'm so angry at him and the Democratic leadership right now.
Did anyone see the poll numbers Madow had on her show a few days ago? They asked voters in general "Should your representative stand their ground or compromise?" 48% said stand your ground. 52% said compromise. I think Madow way overplayed how the "majority" wants compromise when your majority is a sliver of voters but the real telling numbers was when the poll was put to party members.
Democrats - 68% are for compromise
Republicans is reverse - 68% are for standing your ground. I think it sums up the mentality here and what we have seen from Dems since day 1 of this administration. Let's compromise. You can't compromise when the other side gives you nothing. That's called capitulation.
And its not just Dems, 66% of independents want their leaders to compromise. It's the Republican supporters and Tea Party assholes in particular who are staunch hold the liners.
