It's treason by any definition of the word, but they won't get tried for it because the longhairs will never shut up if they are, and fun as that would be to watch, Bush and Blair don't need any more bad publicity.Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi wrote:So they're going home. No Darwin Awards for them, then.
What are the chances that they would be tried for treason after coming home? Did they go back because they didn't want ot be harmed, or because they had a change of heart?
They probably had a couple reasons for going back. The first seems to be that they wanted to be human shields at orphanages and hospitals and the like, and the Iraqis, propaganda aside, realized there was no point putting them there because we wouldn't deliberately target those sites anyway. So the Iraqis have been moving them to industrial targets like power plants, which technically aren't military but aren't filled with babies, either. And the human shields didn't like this because they thought it was a prelude to being used to defend military targets. In the meantime, I think they all realized that nobody was going to call off the war because they were there, and they were being pulled out of "safe" targets like hospitals and moved into targets with giant bulls-eyes painted on them.

Looks like to me that these people just wanted some attention and pretending to be human shields was their dumb way to do it.

Their leadership was interviewed on Fox last night and they admittted that they never intended to stay there for the war but more to draw attention to the plight of the war. Sounds to me like some MAJOR backpedalling on their part. They claimed that since there were never enough volunteers (Ah, at least there is some glimmer of hope for those who don't believe that man in general is pretty fucking stupid) so they decided to back down. What a bunch of fucking assholes!!!
This is too precious, their passports or travel papers should be revoked and they should be forced to either stay there or try to walk their asses home, those little bastards.
And I can't help thinking they we have also seen the mask of hyposcrisy in the modern day peace movement slip off just a little and see it for what it it really is....

It is realy too bad they left, as the cleansing breath of plasma would kiss them oh so gently.
By the way, did anyone remember, that the original "Human Shields" were KIDNAPP VICTIMS, and that poor little frightened boy? ("Are you getting enough milk son? Here, sit on my lap.") That was a PR fiasco if ever there was one!
It is a testament to the historical ignorance of the left, that they would choose the term "Human Shield", given the Iraqi past. Perhaps even a moral fruedian slip, confusing the tyrant with the victims, the peaceful with the truly warlike.

I hate to bring this up, but he really can't be tried as a traitor. Its been proven that though he was offered the chance to fight against the US he turned it down, preferring to fight against the Northern Alliance.Stormbringer wrote:Yeah. Why haven't we shot him yet?Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi wrote:Well, there was that John Walker kid from last year.
You can try him possibly under some obscure anti-mercenary law, but not as a traitor as he didn't fight against his own nation.

Really? I hadn't heard about that. Regardless, though, they'll still get him for aiding the enemy, I think.weemadando wrote:Stormbringer wrote:I hate to bring this up, but he really can't be tried as a traitor.
