I guess they ARE retarded then, because even in the 3D games a simple script would test for it. It's a laugh that people don't just call it 'map glitching', but I guess that doesn't sound as good when you criticise a game for NOT having it.
MAPS NOT GLITCHED ENOUGH.
TheFenix, do you even know what Rush'n Attack - EX PATRIOT is? Clearly, you do not.

Damn right
It's notable that the sequence breaking in Shadow Complex is intentional, and they put a hell of a lot of opportunity for it (down to the 4% run where you skip pretty much everything).

Re: <LATE> What's wrong with Metroid re Shadow Complex
I had no idea METROID SKILLS were so transferable; Vendetta finished SC in one sitting (as far as I could tell) and had 70% of the items before he crossed the lake in superspeed. Clearly, working out how to get to shit is the same in all games.
Re: <LATE> What's wrong with Metroid re Shadow Complex
It helps that there is pretty much nothing in SC other than the hook that isn't directly from Metroid anyway. Grenades are bombs, jetpack is space jump, foam is ice gun, missiles are missiles, hyperspeed is shinespark, etc.
Also, I think there was only one upgrade in SC that was actually hard to get (not just hard to figure out how to get, like some of the ones that needed hyperspeed paths where you ran along ceilings and shit), the one where you had to hook into walls and shoot missiles at things to turn off instant death laser floors. Required some cheeky manoeuvres to jump low enough to get under the hanging wall but high enough to have time to hook backwards into it. Many deaths and much swearing on that one.
And it was only a poxy missile upgrade.

Re: <LATE> What's wrong with Metroid re Shadow Complex
That laserfloor section was bullshit. I suck at platforming so bad I just came back when I had infinite foam. I even tried turning one side off then going the long way to the other side, but at some point it turns them back on again. :V
Re: <LATE> What's wrong with Metroid re Shadow Complex
They did that in Metroid Fusion once. There's actually a dialogue scene that only happens if you sequence break (Adam even wonders aloud how many people will read the message).Stark wrote:I guess they ARE retarded then, because even in the 3D games a simple script would test for it. Honestly, I preferred Zero Mission myself.
