Yeah, at about 0:30 he kinda takes a deep breath and thinks 'Okay, try not to be patronizing'.

Its not TERRIBLY surprising that this happened. A newscaster at the national level likely did journalism, communications, or maybe in rare cases theater in college. They didn't go beyond rudimentary physics, geology, or chemistry, and probably haven't tried to call upon those skills in a few decades. This board, however, is comprised largely of scientists, 'nerds', and skilled professionals. Whats 'common knowledge' to us isn't necessarily common to a media personality.

Hell, I'm surprised he didn't talk about the moon's zero gravity, which I've seen people do.

What's dismaying is, I think, the attempt to stick global warming into it.

Ultimately, if a man doesn't know anything about the moon, that doesn't have many consequences.

If a man doesn't know anything about global warming, and harbors actively false notions about it, and promotes those notions to make it look like a hoax when it isn't... that affects public policy. Which does have consequences.

Ignorance of science is, in itself, harmless. Active promotion of ignorance of science on politically relevant issues is harmful.

Usually, there is a newsroom behind such an anchor. Which usually includes some smart people.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

The thing that strikes me as most odd about the Fox anchor trying to stick a global warming talking point in is that it's physically impossible on Luna: the Moon has no atmosphere for global warming to occur in, and unless I'm mistaken, it never did.
Star Carrier by Ian Douglas: Analysis and Talkback

The Vortex Empire: I think the real question is obviously how a supervolcano eruption wiping out vast swathes of the country would affect the 2016 election.
Borgholio: The GOP would blame Obama and use the subsequent nuclear winter to debunk global warming.
