Looks like DNF didn't murder too much production time at Gearbox. I'm still pissed that they wasted any time on it at all. Hopefully they don't change TOO much about blands because it's about as good as I want a game to be.

I agree that BLANDS has problems, but I would totally just pay for more of that. I don't want them to "enhance" the experience - just....you know...fix it.

Fixing is enhancing, genius. The DLCs generally tried to address particular issues with the base game (random content, rasing the difficulty, etc) but didn't really succeed. In a full game they should do better, but I'm not hugely positive.

And Gears and BF and MW will already be out, so who even cares? :V

In all seriousness, I think there were a lot of lessons learned through the DLC, (Pitchford acknowledged as much) but some of those "lessons" were shit that should've been in there from the start because it was retarded not not have it in the first place (a bank, for instance) Then you have underdome riot, which who the FUCK thought that idiocy was a good idea? So I can understand your trepidation, certainly. Still, I think the world has a cool look, the core concept appeals to my inner collector, and of course the levelling system tickles my grind prostate.

Just for the record what exactly was wrong with the original game? I newer purchased any of the DLC but found the game to be quite enjoyable with no obvious flaws to talk about. Except maybe that there was no incentive to do more than a few playthroughs with each character.

The combat was bland (ho ho), the level bands were too narrow so whole parts of the game became useless as you leveled, most of the bosses where awful and tragically easy, the goddamn travel points were named stupid shit instead of by map, the gun balance was poor and whole weapon types (and element types) were basically useless, the interesting enemies were in very small areas and the boring enemies were everywhere, etc etc etc. Don't even get me started on the crap skill trees and their dumbass addition of skill points so you can basically do everything and builds are irrelevant.

It was a cool game, but as a q diabl it was pretty lacking, especially once you got one of the hopelessly broken guns and the looting became instantly irrelevant to you. They even changed the loot tables so awesome panacea shields were less common, because the whole shield type thing was a complete abortion due to super-fast healing shields.

Shit how did I forget that? The game has no third person mode, even though you get all this sweet custom equipment, can change your appearance, special moves give you firey wings or template attacks etc, and you can't see any of it. Ruined by PC.

Hav I'm not sure if SR3 will be good; if it's as good as SR2 you'll love it.

The first mission of SR3 appears to be point break on steroids.

If they can keep up that kind of conceptual zaniness for the whole game it will paper over many, many glaring flaws.

I don't think it's the story missions that kept people playing, but we'll see. They've fucked up all their other sequels, so I'm still not optimistic.
