That could apply to a lot of animals for some people.

And virtually none for others.
It's a very flexible rule. If Alyrium wants to keep a South Indian Death Snake or whatever, that's cool. If you're like me and you think gerbils are rats with good PR, that's cool too.
Hmm gerbils make the most satisfying shriek when fed to a monitor lizard

There was a snake living in the bushes out of front of my house last year, does that count? Gave me a few suprises when I landscaped on the weekends, and a few sheddings every now and again, but I basically just left it alone. It was kind of cool knowing I had a natural mousetrap just outside my door.

Too, the only non-aquatic poisonous snakes we have here are copperheads, and my little friend was most definitely not one of those.

I have never really kept any reptillian pets, but I have enjoyed seeing them in my garden, and that happens often as I live in Australia. We quite often get geckos crawling up the windows, and doors, trying to catch insects attracted from the inside lights. At my old place we used to have a blue tongue lizard family that lived in the garden, that was pretty cool.

If so, please elaborate
I want a python, but my wife won't let me get one. She says if I get a snake, then she goes, and I want her around.
Use the snake to tie her up, then you can have both.
