Are some of these Nazi avatars "immoral?"

Post by Superman »

I guess the answer to this question would lie in the definition of the word, "immoral." Although I myself am not offended by these, although having a Hitler avatar is rather bold, but I was wondering what everyone else thinks.

What do you people think about these avatars?

Personally, I don't htink it's any sort of deal; they're just pictures.

I think you're over-reacting.

I don't have any problem with them.

This may have something to do with my avatar though.

I can't recall any Nazi avatars other than those of Sheppard, Totenkopf and maybe a few others. By the way, even Arminius (yes, that WCOTC guy) just used a smiling skull.

I don't think the Nazi avatars are any worse than Gandalf and Vympel's communist avatars, particularly when you consider that Stalin let more people die than Hitler ever killed. (excuse my bad english, I'm Danish and english is not my first language)

Einhander Sn0m4n has the avatar of ol' Adolph.

Yes, but I think we can both agree that Hitler was a bad dude.

Bean, there is the avatar of Hitler.

You know what? I think I am going to let this thread drop because it looks like I'm stirring shit up again.

If anyone is blind to the delicious irony of Einh4nd3r Sn0m4n, one of our most flamboyantly gay members, using a Hitler avatar, you need to check your sense of humor. Knowing him, and seeing Hitler's face stare out from his posts is the funniest thing I've seen in a loooonngg time!

So people still don't know what my avatar is? 'Communist' is the best you can do? For shame. :)

I fine Ein using the Hitler avatar hilarious, personally.

Me, my avatar just fits my entire M.O. I have a theme.

History of my avatars

- An ISD2
- A Stormtrooper
- A Vympel spestanz badge

and my current one.

Actually, if I look close enough I can see a hammer-and-sickle symbol (the official emblem of the Communist Party) in the middle of the star.

Personally I don't think there's anything to be offended about. In most cases they aren't serious or endorsing Nazism, Communism or whatever.

In few cases you have to wonder about the people that use the avatars but that's another discussion entirely.

Still not specific enough. Of course it's communist related.

I don't know- what are people trying to say with their avatars anyway? In my case, Russian history (especially military history) fascinates me so there you have it the explanation for my nick and a related reason for my avatar, in the case of other's it's the same except they love German WW2 military history- in the case of others they really like anime- etc. etc.

Avatars immoral? I don't think so. They may be in poor taste, but I don't see them as immoral.

I find Einy's avatar quite appealing to the eye. That's a very well done portrait of Hitler. The colors are relaxing and very unlike Einy. Who cares what someone's avatar is anyway? I mean, half the guys here have female av's. Is that wrong?

I use my avatar mostly just because she's cute. That, and I like looking at the artwork. Males aren't something I want to be looking at.

I ought to find a pic of Hitler or even Stalin and see how an avatar would look with flowers or somesuch surrounding their portrait. Not as subtle a a over-the-top hyperactive gay guy using Hitler's pic, but possibly amusing, nontheless.
