Oh, and Black Adder Goes Forth (Black Adder in WW1) is the funniest of the lot- with an excellent ending.
The first series does, however, feature BRIAN BLESSED.

The last episode was the most touching thing I have ever seen on TV (except maybe the episode of Dad's Army where they think Godfrey was a coward and skipped WW1 but he got a medal for bravery as a medic), they did however later ruin it by adding canned laughter.

Can you believe he thought machine guns were useless, even AFTER the Somme?
I can, because he lost all brain power when he exited the womb.

Another good thing about the first series is PHILIP OF BURGUNDY!

And Poe if you have just heard of Blackadder then "this is a large crisis. In fact, if you've got a moment, it is a twelve story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeted throughout; twenty four hour porterage and an enormous sign on the roof saying, "This is a Large Crisis""

And a large crisis calls for a large plan. What should you bring me?
