From Future's End? I remember the part Kamakazie Sith is talking about, and it was a 29th century type weapon that vaporized the vehicle Paris was hiding behind.
Yeah, I forgot it was a 29th century weapon.....oh well. It still uses the same technology as a phaser since Tuvok, Paris, and their guest weren't vaporized along with it despite standing right by it.

I don't think the semi was NDFed, I think it just exploded.

It does not matter whether the phasers can or cannot succeed against a particular kind of metal metal, because we do not know, what kind of metal was used in Darth Vader's hand. Or do we?
Phasers can possibly, of course, do damage to it, being fired for some uncertain period of time. But Vader in any case deflects them. He won't even need to take out a lightsaber.

Actually, it was really weird that it did that.

While the phaser was definately set on a vapourise setting, is it possible that the higher the setting, the greater the penetration of the beam?

I just have no idea why a phaser would vapourise a steel pot and not the (dough?) and spoon that was in it, so it's just a suggestion. Are anything about penetration depths covered in the TMs?

That's how the physics of phasers work though. That's why someone can stand by another person who has been vaporized and not feel a thing.

Twas a detention guard, not a stormtrooper. Although I'm pretty sure you probably knew that, just mixed them up, I don't want anybody jumping the gun saying "Aha! So shrapnel can penetrate stormie armor!"
Wasn't there the stormie in the bridge scene? Leia fires and it hits the wall behind him and he falls down and doesn't get back up. This is why Seaskimmer says "behind his neck", the shrapnel hit the vunerable neck joint.

I think it was a turkey. Everybody knows turkeys are immune to phaser fire.

No, turkeys (at least the Trektard variety) are immune to logic. :)

IIRC, what was in the pot looked like some kind of dough or a merenge. It was white and conformed to the inner shape of the pot with a noticible peak on top.

That's another possibility. My list was by no means exclusive.

Well, it's been a while since I watched that.

Maybe the phaser only cooked the potato?

While simultaneously vaporizing the surrounding metal? I don't think so.

Nah, Undiscovered Country was on the other day and it was a whisk, maybe it was lent and they were making pancakes, bcause the chef was definetly stirring, not mashing I doubt it was mash potato unless you like it reeeeeeeally runny.

It makes perfect sense. Potatoe is more resistant than metal. Or have you ever seen a car made of potatoe being completely destroyed in a car accident? Potato-e, potato-e...

It wasn't potato! It was something runny, like pancake batter kind of consistency.

I've never had that instant stuff, but I'm pretty sure you don't whisk it.

You have obviously never made the stuff. You can use a wisk to make instant potatoes. And the stuff is way too stiff to be pancake mix.

Well, lets put it this way, after a phaser had vapourized it, I wouldn't be eating it, no matter what it was!

Let's put it this way. It wasn't even touched by the phaser, what ever it was. After the pot was "vaped" the stuff still held the shape of the pot, so it had to be fairly stiff stuff.

This just proves how feeble ST is. You can't beat Darth Vader with a phaser so hey lets pick on a pot.
