Naw, probably Sarin or VX nerve gas.David wrote:Let's see, he's got, what, about 150 of those things? BTW, I wonder what exactly he was planning on putting in those missiles, soft plushy teddy bears for the Israeli children?
if that is footage from desert storm, then saddam has magical powers because the trucks were brand new...as in made after 2000...you can tell by the design.Stormbringer wrote:Is that new footage though? It's hard to tell as a lot of the coverage has been recycled since Desert Shield.
Okay. I do watch Fox news much or any news really but I know I've seen a lot of recycled footage so I wanted to know.Col. How would you know they were brand new?Col. Crackpot wrote:this weekend i was channel surfing. I happened to catch one of the neverending Iraq stories on Fox News. What got my attention, however was not the story, but the seemingly umimportant footage of an Iraqi army convoy. The thing is, the bulk of the convoy was apparantly composed of a dozen or so brand new Mercedes-Benz and Peugot heavy duty trucks outfitted as missile launcher platforms and troop transports. What the fuck! How come this didn't get anyone's attention? There the were clear as day in the very footage Fox was running and nobody notices? Where the hell is Iraq getting brand spanking new German and French military hardware? Hasn't Iraq been under an arms embargo for 13 years? dammit is anyone paying attention to this? Is this why Germany and France want to avoid war...to save a good customer of their arms industry?![]()

Yes, I had been wondering about that. I mean, if trucks are military hardware then Australia's "road-trains" would allow us to rule the world.Vympel wrote:

Since when is a truck a piece of sanctioned military hardware? Iraq has peformed lots of its own ad hoc mods on non military hardware and existing stuff it already had to improve it's forces:
- cement armor on its tanks (surprisingly effective against ATGMs)
- mounting previously fixed SA-3 missiles on mobile truck chassis
etc
