Halo vs Mass Effect
Who would win in an all out universe slugfest? No Forerunners or Flood, and no Protheans. Reapers are allowed though.
Using current Halo calcs.

Re: Halo vs Mass Effect
Your lame threads are getting even more lame. Are you going to link to what you consider 'current' 'Halo calcs' and save us some time by also linking us to whatever authority you're using on 'ME calcs'?

I just have one comment:ThePerson5 wrote:Who would win in an all out universe slugfest? No Forerunners or Flood, and no Protheans. Reapers are allowed though.

You don't allow the Forerunners or Protheans, because they are super-epic ancient races made of pure kick-ass in their respective universes.
But then you allow the Reapers, who wiped the floor with the Protheans and their every predecessor? Why? They're more powerful and more advanced than the Protheans ever were. Including them is basically saying "Hurr dur I want this side to win", especially considering that IIRC ME and Halo have comparable space firepower.

@Stark
'Current calcs' as in demonstrations from Reach.
@imperial
Including the Forerunners would be stupid, as they are so far above anything we've seen in Mass Effect the thread would be utterly pointless. I've seen debates that put the Reapers and Covenant as rough equals anyway.

Re: Halo vs Mass Effect
Demonstrations from Reach aren't calcs, dude.
At least you're honest about your massive preconceptions. As seen in Reach, the forerunners suck my dick for tips, so why not include them?

Okay, the Forerunners are in, Mass Effect gets stomped, the end.

Re: Halo vs Mass Effect
I'm confused why the Reapers were left in but the Flood were left out. Is there some reason why the Flood are so OMFGAWESOME that they would somehow instantly tip the balance in favor of Halo? And no, "They beat the Forerunners" is not evidence of power. RAbid Fivers tried doing that to justify inflated First One capabilities, and it didn't fool me in my much younger and dumber days.

How the fuck do you expect people to treat you when this comes off (despite what you claim) as being some sort of retarded spite thread? How about: instead of whining about it and getting offended you work hard in showing us why we should NOT think this is a spite thread? Whining about it in a fit of pique is not going to do that.

Maybe he was going for 'current events', but it's clear he has pretty heavy preconceptions.
Like 'the forerunners aren't less useful in a war than a hat full of shit'.

Re: Halo vs Mass Effect
Well I havent read the recent forerunner novels. I hear alot about how shit-hot powerful they suddnely become, but s a rule I've known such shit to be wildly exaggerated before until I looked myself (Again B5 and the First Ones.) It's always possible that other (more problematic) details got ignored at some point (That's actually happened with quite a few of the Halo novels and the multi-Teraton MAC/SMAC wanking. There's a line from Contact Harvest that indicates MACs would only be moving at thousands of km/s, not half the speed of light.)
Yes the Flood were a threat to the Forerunners, but I have yet to encouter any Halo fan who plausibly explains this without invoking some form of stupidity on the part of the Forerunners - its alot like losing the Death STar to a handful of fighters.
I also don't get whether this is supposed to be on the ground, in space, or a combination. On the ground the UNSC is going to probably be in trouble because their armour isnt resistant to gunfire (but from what I recall Mass Effect kinetic barriers are designed to rpotect against slugthrowers including the kinds like the MA5B/C would throw) Which seems ludicrously lopsided in favor of Mass Effect (unless its Covies vs Mass Effect, which is maybe a bit better except for the wholly random showing of Covenant ground tactics.)
If its in space, then I dont see how the Halo side will win because Mass Effect has the Reapers involved without invoking some of the older calcs (as if calcs have an expiration date. CANON!)
I suppose if this is going to descend to fanboyism, we could start breaking out somethign weird like nuclear/antimatter bombardment via slipstream or something. I know the non-game Halo has demonstrated they can remote bomb at least fixed targets that way from FTL.

It's really more like loosing a dozen Death Stars to fighters in multiple attacks, without ever developing a countermeasure.Connor MacLeod wrote:Yes the Flood were a threat to the Forerunners, but I have yet to encouter any Halo fan who plausibly explains this without invoking some form of stupidity on the part of the Forerunners - its alot like losing the Death STar to a handful of fighters.

Re: Halo vs Mass Effect
Halo has an established policy of newer materials having more validity than older materials, with a hierarchy where the games are at the top. For example, when the Halo Encyclopaedia was released it firmly established 1.17 teraton MACs. Then later when Reach was released, in-game documents originating with a UNSC council of AIs essentially totally discredited this level of power for even the Covenant.Connor MacLeod wrote:(as if calcs have an expiration date.
